20th Century Fox Home Entertainment has officially announced that it will release on Blu-ray directo Rouben Mamoulian's classic film Blood and Sand (1941), starring Tyrone Power, Linda Darnell, and Rita Hayworth. The release will be available for purchase on July 9th.

Just watched the wonderful blu-ray of Blood and Sand last night. The use of Technicolor is amazing.
Unusually, the commentary is not by one of regular types (directors, actors, screenwriter, etc.) but a cinematographer: Richard Crudo, President of the American Society of Cinematographers a few years ago. He describes the look of the film as painterly, comparing some scenes to the works of
Velasquez. But enough about the film's look. The score by Alfred Newman is perfect, with that
effective Spanish flavor. Love the source cues including songs, solo guitar and flamenco. Has any of it ever appeared on LP or CD?
