Chris has been in more films then any actor[except for Bollywood] who ever lived. Although he has made so many films over a span of 8 decades[WOW] he will always be known to many as a Horror star, well he has made alot of them [horror Scifi] along with alot of other films. A character actor indeed, he has played Dracula in 9 films, also a vampire in a few more, Sherlock Holmes, Fu ManChu, Rasputin, The mummy, Frankenstein's creature, DR Jekyll,Mycroft Sherlock Holmes brother, etc etc etc. After being in the film industry for a decade it was Hammer films that brought him into the limelight with big hits like Horror of Dracula, Curse of Frankenstein, The mummy etc. He made many films in Europe in different countries in the 60's, as well as films for Hammer. He came to Hollywood in the 70's, did many films of all type. Went back to Euope by the end of the 80's and has continue to make movies everywhere in the world. He is doing 4 films this year at 88 years old. A good solid actor[great in visual form] he holds not only the distinction of being prolific but also of playing so many different ethnic groups in the world.-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------He has also as well played films in more different countries probably then any star,He has made it a point that he has deep respect for the genre that is why he won't play some films that he feel is insulting him the audience and the genre. If any movie fan want a nice challenge, look up his filmography and see how long it will take to find and see every film he did, To get a finite study may not be as hard as some older stars, but it will take many many hours of film watching.Out of the genre his most known films probably are Man with the golden gun, Star wars, Lord of the rings etc etc etc.

What a shame Peter Cushing turned it down first, it is what Peter needed at that time, shortly before he became ill with cancer, instead he had small parts in films like Shock waves, Arabian adventure etc etc. Something tells me although i never heard it actually mention that the reason both Cushing and Lee turned it down was, remember back then the horror film was in a changing state, Horror films before the late 70's were considered often a family affair, the new wave of slice and dice films was met with much disdain back then , there was a anti genre thing going on in the late 70's and early 80's, alot of horror fans and people didn't care for the new horror, because the horror was becoming more like crime terror , not the real unknown. The older stars of the genre then wanted to stay away from that side of the genre.Of course 30 years since, you have both sides of the genre being made at a study pace.
