My new favorite director George Miller said the other day that Mad Max Fury Road has started pre-production, but without Mel. I still think Mel might change his mind, it would help his career. Who would you guys like to see play Max? I love the Mad Max movies so I'm very excited about this news.

Clive Owen as Mad Max. Everyone seems to like him.

I wonder if Mel Gibson would be interested at this point.

But whoever plays Max would of course have to be an Australian, so my number one choice is Hugh Jackman -- he has both the charisma to be a hero, as well as the ability to project the brooding stoicism needed play Max.

If not Hugh Jackman then Russell Crowe. Crowe is less charismatic than Jackman but he's great at playing the rough-hewn burnout with a hidden soft side.

For me, its either one of them, or no one.

No Mel = No Max.

I don`t mean to be somewhat clever (?) given this is a music board, but I`d be very concerned over who is going to follow Brian May to score it. Of course, if the project isn`t an Adult adventure, if its another music video like Thunderdome, the issue is probably moot.

No Mel = No Interest.

However, if it ends up being a reboot or something, then I might be interested if Hugh Jackman plays him. But not Russell Crowe. Bleh!

Whoever plays it needs to have a mullet, and be named Mel. My vote is Mel C from the Spice Girls.

I'd like to see Mel Gibson in a cameo where he dies horribly, painfully, and slowly, thus prompting Ms C's revenge.

If Gibson starred and DIRECTED -- now THAT could be interesting.

And a Mad Max score by James Horner could be pretty interesting too.

In the same way that having tent pegs hammered into your ears while a couple of lit fireworks are taped to your eyes is interesting.

For those interested, George Miller will also be directing Justice League and I think Happy Feet 2.

He should remake "Death Race 2000".
Mel could play the navigator who gets "scored".

Even though they haven't cast anyone as Max, I still hope Mel will do it, it does look like it's really moving forward! I love these movies and am really excited about this. I'm also a big Miller fan. Miller's also doing HAPPY FEET 2 btw.

Mel coming back just seems highly unlikely at this point. He somehow he does, awesome! I'll be there opening day. If somebody else plays Max (which I'm very much expecting), I'll be disappointed, but still willing to give them a chance depending on what I think of the choice.

It does seem unlikely, but I'm thinking the reason they haven't cast anyone yet is because they are holding out for Mel.

Here's an interview with Miller which gives me hope Mel will do it.

And if theres anyone Gibson would work with again, its Donner or Miller.

Viggo Mortensen might make for a kick-ass Max.

Just curious how could a 3rd sequel help an actors career?

By the way didn`t I hear some rumours that Charlize Theron was cast?

It was a rumor, and hopefully it'll stay a rumor. Miller recently said that everything you hear online is just rumor, as they are still looking at lots of actors and have not made any decisions yet.

I'm not so much interested in who will be starring in it as I am in who will be doing the score!

Plus, if they get Mel to do it again, I want it to take place in Israel wink
