Okay, I will break the rule and give this one an answer (actually two answers):
1. 42 (pretty obvious) 2. In Kilgore Trout's book "Venus on the Half Shell," our hero traverses the galaxy getting in and out of all sorts of dangerous situations as he tries to find the answer to the question "why must we live and suffer only to die?" A wise man finally provides the answer for the hero:
why is there ONE stoplight on a route you use regularly that no matter what time of day or night you ALWAYS seem to get when it's red??? Like it sees you coming....
There's one in particular in my local area that is red 99.9% of the time I approach it. I've gotten so used to it that one day I stopped at it, and was suddenly treated to the blasting of a car horn from behind me. The light had been green the whole time, but I was just in the habit of stopping at it as if it was red.
