The restaurant that I miss the most isn't a fast-food chain...but it was a national chain... Beefsteak Charlie's Anybody remember them? GREAT steaks, GREAT salad bar, GREAT sangria!

I'm not trying to take-over this thread, but I really, Really, REALLY miss Roy Rogers. Not Roy himself...his fast-food joints. Roy's Double-R-Burger was by far-and-away, simply the very finest burger I have ever, ever had anywhere. AND I'm including those new "7 Dollar Burgers" by comparison. ALSO, Roy's Fried Chicken Recipe was the very best. A Thousand Leagues better than "KFC's"! Recently, I discovered Roy Rogers restaurants along the Pennsylvania Turnpike...Bonita & I stopped to try them out with great interest, only to be sorely disappointed.

They look disappointed at the waiter and say, "Steaks?" More a case of them having forgotten about the steaks and now after all the shrimp they have no appetite for them. Remember their song, "You're gonna' get spoiled, we will treat you right!" which SNL lampooned with their sketch about "Pre-Chewed Charlie's"? I remember one in Madison Square Garden we ate at before a Rangers game a couple times.

"...And are the Fish 'n' chips good Chris?" Well Timmer, it's been two years since I last visited the place (Danville isn't a regular stop for me)...but they certainly were delicious back then! And yes...a corn dog is a batter dipped frankfurter, deep fried and stuck on a stick like a lollipop. If my memory serves me, Beefsteak Charlie's tagline was "We'll feed ya'like there's no tomorrow!"

I don't recall that tagline for Beefsteak Charlie's. I do remember in their later days a bunch of ads with Beefsteak Charlie's nerdy nephew Beefsteak Chuck ("He went to restaurant school!")
