What do you feel is the most disturbing film you ever seen . One I feel was on tonight on TCM JIMMY BLACKSMITH-78-An AUSTRALIAN film about a couple of sick aborigines going around killing woman throughout the Australian countryside. It's technique of showing the most innocent harmless woman and girls including babies being slaughter by 2 sub humans just sets off a raw emotion in any decent human being. You are just waiting for them to get it by film's end.
I agree that THE CHANT OF JIMMIE BLACKSMITH is disturbing, but I don't think it's cool referring to the two aborgines as subhuman. Of course I obviously don't approve of their murderous actions, but I think the movie shows that the treatment they received from many of the European settlers was subhuman as well. I find it to be a provocative film which casts a very sad eye on human stupidity and terrible misjudgements.

And no, I'm not trying to be a smart alek and/or derail the thread. Transporter Accident anyone? Man, that bothered me no end, and ruined the whole movie for me. It stopped the show. A very disturbing, and unnecessary thing to insert into the story, especially so early on. I've seen countless "slasher films", etc. and none of them disturbed me as much as this for some reason. I realize it was only one scene, and that nothing graphic was shown, but for some reason, I couldn't get past it when I watched the film. I kept thinking back to what it implied....
Guess I was too sensitive a kid.
BTW, I agree that "BAMBI" is disturbing. Too disturbing for *little* kids.
ADDED: I haven't seen "THE CHANT OF JIMMIE BLACKSMITH". It sounds like I don't want to.

WITCHCRAFT THROUGH THE AGES ("HAXAN" 1922)
FREAKS (1932)
ECTASY (1933-Made a star of Hedy Lamarr)
TRIUMPH OF THE WILL (1935)
SNOW WHITE AND THE SEVEN DWARFS (banned for children in England, among other places) (1937)
PEEPING TOM (1960 - effectively ended Michael Powell's directorial career)
NIGHT OF THE LIVING DEAD (1968)
THE WILD BUNCH (1969)
Although, I suppose certainly one of the most disturbing films I've ever seen is:
PSYCHO (1960)
followed, to a similar extent, by
JAWS (1975)
Both of which affected the way I view both taking a shower, and swimming in the ocean.
