Yikes, even the post about board wonkies turned out wonky.

I was wondering if anyone else has experienced slogginess or slowness at the board lately, sometimes even timing out altogether?

Oh, it's been insane for me for weeks now. Sometimes after I click the "Post Message" button, it will take seemingly forever to finally post, if it doesn't time out and give me an error page first. Earlier I was trying to post something, and it took so long I had time to go downstairs, get a drink and come back up before it finally posted! It's really been hampering my enjoyment of browsing for about the last month or so.

True. I assumed it was everyone downloading the online mag. There's hours of that stuff to take on board if you're starting from square one.

On the other hand, it may be a software/hardware issue.

Ditto, Thor.
I'm experiencing it all the time.
Nowhere else but here...

Same with me. Weird, and somewhat frustrating.

Agreed. I have been getting the same thing - pages take forever to load. I was thinking it was my desktop but it happens on my laptop as well. Kinda annoying.

It has been very frustrating for me as well lately. It's a free gift from a good man , so who are we to complain.

Aren't the DPs related to this? Sometimes I see threads that have people posting 5 or 6 times in a row, I guess they kept clicking lol? I wonder what the exact reason for the slow board could be but I'm not an IT specialist. It kinda reminds me of the time when internet connections weren't that fast smile

I simply adjusted to this issue. I browse several sites at once. When I click on a thread, or make a post I immediately browse another web page and wait for FSM to load. When it does I switch back. wink

That's what I've also been doing.

Post, then go to another site, then return to FSM.

But, it has been taking much longer lately. Never used to be this slow...

Something is definitely wrong, it's a shame, because it takes up more of our time.

Same for me too, possible the database getting too large? There must be a ton of posts here now.

I've sent a mail to Lukas. Let's see if he responds and if there's anything he can do.

Slow here too.

Maybe it's time to 'upgrade', both server and software?

However, I think no-one else would like the idea as many here have stated in the past they like this board's simplicity, but I feel it has to be said that it is a bit behind the times. I know of no other forum software that doesn't have post tracking for members (so they can know what threads and posts they've read!).

I think it's a monetary issue. Lukas is already spending personal money to keep this board alive, so I don't think we can expect an upgrade anytime soon unless there are some friendly benefactors out there.

However, it is obviously in his interest to keep the board working well in its current format, so I hope this particular issue gets sorted out. If it's a big financial burden to fix this problem, maybe we all can chip in.
