Good to see Giacchino hasn't lost his knack for delightfully punny track titles. Favorite: The Suspension Is Killing Me!

Toy Story of Terror... is premiering this Wednesday. Michael Giacchino has taken the reigns from theatrical series composer Randy Newman. Looks like the score is coming, as a download at least, on Tuesday: http://www.amazon.com/Toy-Story-of-Terror/dp/B00FLLNBW2 Looks like it runs about 21 minutes, which sounds about right because the average 30-minute show is 22 minutes plus ads. This is quite short; it's too bad they didn't take the opportunity to release a CD with this plus his other Pixar shorts "La luna," "Day & Night," "Partly Cloudy" and any others I may have forgotten. Great idea! Just suggested it at the Intrada forum.

It's quite astonishing they are releasing a score to a 22 minute animated short. This actually seems to be the new company byline for Disney. They have been letting the vaults open immediately for most of their animated fare as of the last year. Unfortunately, it is slower for the retroactive releases. However, the two most recent theatrical Disney shorts, Paperman and The Blue Umbrella both have their scores available from digital music stores. A handy tip is to go to Amazon's mp3 page, search for "Disney", select "show all albums" and then sort by release date. You will see that they have been very giving lately, even simultaneously releasing most of the current theme park albums as they've been released. As I said, there is a bit of archival stuff slipping through the tracks as well, so I am hopeful that we will indeed see some of this older material show up down the line. At the very least, I'm confident any future Giacchino Pixar shorts music will likely see release digitally.

I just watched Paperman and was thinking how lovely the music was. Never crossed my mind it would be available for download.

I want Prep & Landing! (And Naughty v.s Nice.) But I'm sure I'll be glad that this is available too. When was the last time Newman did TV? And he hasn't done any of the shorts.

Wow, that’s good. I haven’t seen the last few seasons of Monk. Heck, I wasn’t even thinking of It’s a Jungle Out There.

When was the last time Newman did TV? When he did an original song for the series finale of Monk. Taken apart from Monk, that's a heartbreaking song. Word of advice: don't listen to that when you're in the middle of a divorce!
