Nice. Although to be fair, my only connection to the franchise is the tv series, which I followed somewhat as a kid. I'm not even sure I've seen the film with the DiCola score. But hey, I love DiCola's work on ROCKY IV, and assume this is more in the same territory. So I'm game!

Thor, if you love his music for ROCKY IV, then you will indeed enjoy this score as well. The inverse is also true, I tell to fans of his TRANSFORMERS score! If you were a fan of the 80's animated series, you should certainly check out the film too, at least just so you'll know how well the score and songs are integrated into the picture.

I was a huge fan of the series as a kid and saw the movie in the theater (I think I own it on a VHS somewhere), but I'm not at all familiar with the score. Folks have been clamoring for it so long that I take it it's pretty good? Like Thor, I liked DiCola's ROCKY IV quite a bit, so I'm game for this.

I can't even count how many times I saw this movie, though I did see it twice in the theaters in '86. I was a massive TF fan and still am, to the degree that I read the current comics line from IDW. The '86 movie was a game-changer for the series at the time and for the TF franchise overall, as elements from its story and characters are still referenced and homaged to this day in current incarnations.

The INTRADA version should be way better than the promo BotCon version.
Glad I missed the BotCon release.

Another great announcement! I've heard the film version as well as a piano rendition I believe it was of Dicola's Transformers score and it definitely has some cool tunes. I think they tracked parts of it into the G.I. Joe animated movie as well.

It'd be nice if the songs were included, plus the 'Legacy' track and any other alternates if any exist...

But I doubt it. Licencing and all...and even if they were it'd probably be "The Album" program and have the three redundant tracks...

Most likely it'll be the same program as the disc I already have (from 2001 I think). Still good to be available to those that don't have it as it's a great score...

Having had the 3H release for the last 12 years, along with the piano release, I'm very glad I didn't miss that release. Seems a bit silly to suggest the promo version was worth missing, ESP as it was an official release with DiCola's input.

I'm glad it's getting a general release so that others can finally get a hold of it easily and enjoy it. I have to say after all this time I find the piano variants album more enjoyable smile

Looking forward to hearing the new DiCola Transformers track that he created for Chris Huelsbeck's coming Turrican album. I wonder if it will appear on this release.

[edit] I am a little puzzled by the article which says "It's safe to assume the score will be similar to the BotCon 1997 exclusive CD that was released, featuring some of the background score and alternate pieces. ". The album was available to order online from 3H's website, along with the score album as "Lighting Their Darkest Hour", and had all of the background score not some of it.

So Intrada has access to Hasbro now? Because IMDB says the film's production companies are Sunbow, Marvel, and Hasbro.

Yes, but the movie now falls solely under Sony, therefore the license for the film's music is through them.

Interesting. When did this happen? I'd be curious to read up on it.

That doesn't mean a My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic release is on the cards, mind.

I'm a fan of Dicola's Rocky IV score too, so if it is similar in sound as previously stated I know I'll enjoy this.

At some point around 2009, I think, when the movie had an anniversary deluxe 2-disc DVD release...

The original BotCon release (Til All Are One') did NOT have the three score tracks that were on the OST. The 2001 release did, but it doesn't include the Legacy piece like the BotCon one did (either for space reasons, or because it was on the other CD with the other demo-y stuff)
