I saw this 1980 horror film last month. (The title is also variously given as a single word, THE BOOGEYMAN.) The film was fairly well shot and acted, but the script is rather disjointed. The synthesizer score by Tim Krog was released as a limited edition (1000) LP back in the day, on the one-shot Synthe-Sound-Trax (SST) label. Has anyone ever heard this recording? In the film itself, it sounded fairly amateurish to me. This film, and the followup BOOGEYMAN II (1983) seem to be the only scores that Krog ever did. One source also credits Ed Christiano (the film's music editor) with some of the score.
THE BOOGEY MAN was released on Blu-ray in Germany last year, and the video reportedly comes with a score CD.
I have this album on vinyl and have not played it in 30 plus years but i do remember it being pretty darn good for a synth score and im looking forward to picking it up on CD....
July will be here soon but still no sign of this CD. It still says it'll come in early 2014 on their website (Howlin' Wolf Records). I sure hope Richard Einhorn's SHOCK WAVES won't be postponed, too.
Wonder what happened to this label? I loved their stuff and the releases were all great and Wall is a great person. I hope HWR will continue as this my kind of label that releases exactly my kind of music...
Wall from "HWR" is an extraordinary human being and he surely will continue bringing us interesting CDS.!! As far as I know "The Boogey Man" is coming next month.
I really do hope so and will continue to support this label as it really releases great CDs in the genre and I also hope they will continue releasing music from Riparetti (Knights is my first choice)
Just an update for those interested -- THE BOOGEY MAN is definitely on its way. I just looked at booklet proofs last week. It's a fantastic package all around and I'm looking forward to seeing it hit the streets.
Wall, Zach & company have a lot of great stuff in the works, so stay tuned -- more is on its way!
