This 2 CD release is taken from the original master tapes and also includes the original LP release, (which i believe was a re-recording ?). I have the LP and the Blu ray movie and music on these does not want me to go and buy a 2CD set. Now Cinerama Holiday 2CD would be a different story.. They tend to specialise in re-issuing vintage vocal albums from the 50' - 60's. Click on their catalogue and you'll get the idea. Sometimes, these are transcribed from the original discs, but the quality is always fine. They do quality LP transfers. Their catalog is made up of strictly public domain (in the UK) titles, so how exactly they have any original tapes of Windjammer is anyone's guess, unless they got someone here to slip them to them, which I doubt would happen, frankly. Always sends the CDs quickly, good customer service and reliable. I have many of their CDs and they are all well-mastered and annotated. Long live Sepia! As far as I know, this is its first release on CD; odd, because it was originally released on lp by Columbia, as prestigious a record label as e'er there was, and remained in print for decades. I've always wondered why it never made it to CD before now. Hopefully, CD1 of this set is the music tracks, and not the actual sound from the film, including copious sound effects and narration. Having finally seen the film this past year, during the Cinerama Festival, at the Cinerama Dome in L.A., I was struck by the fact that some of the film's music cues were quite different than they are presented on the original lp album. The album, in fact, is actually a better representation of Gould's score. Really looking forward to this release! Have already contacted SAE about it. (Now, if they can only give us an expanded release of Gould's score to the TV documentary, WORLD WAR I....)    Posted:   Aug 4, 2013 - 6:44 AM     By:   Broughtfan   (Member) I love Morton Gould's music so I'm going to chance this one. Oh, I, too, love Morton Gould's music, Stringmusic, Festive Music and Symphony of Spirituals being three American orchestral masterworks. His Jericho Rhapsody was also a favorite symphonic band piece of my high school band director's (Gould's Santa Fe Saga being among mine). Great to hear about this soundtrack and would love to see a release of either the original Holocaust (NBC mini series) tracks or a CD issue of the splendid 1978 RCA album, a re-recording made by Gould in London. Speaking of Gould's music for Holocaust. does anyone on the board know where and when the (actual) film score was recorded? The archivist of the AFM Los Angeles office told me that there's no record of it being recorded there and thought Gould may have recorded the music in NYC (where he recorded the score for the aforementioned CBS documentary series World War I some thirteen years earlier).    Posted:   Aug 4, 2013 - 7:17 AM     By:   TerraEpon   (Member) What, no one going bitch about how those LP transfers are stealing and how they are a horrid label and no one should buy from them? Or is it only when it's a film score that it's a problem.... Well !.....as Bruce said, their releases are all out of copyright now, so, perfectly legal in the UK. Many of the artists involved are also dead ! Will the original record companies involved in producing these albums go out of business due to sales of these titles ? Since I have the LP, I think I'll wait for someone to report on it first though. As to whether that LP, which is labeled as being "Electronically Re-Channeled for Stereo," is a re-recording, someone posted this on Soundtrack Collector: "Contrary to what the label states, the full musical score recording is in TRUE stereo, as recorded for the film's 7-channel stereo soundtrack. Only the monaurally recorded source cues (such as the Casals performance) have been "re-channelled."
