For those of you who saw WRECK-IT RALPH, there was a charming animated short beforehand called PAPERMAN that had a score by Christophe Beck and it will be available as a digital download at Amazon on December 18th.

It's only 99 cents as it is one track running 4:59 minutes.

Cool! I do remember the music being very nice. It looks like it'll be $.99 well spent (and I'm surprised this was released, even as an MP3 - way to go Disney!).

The only reason to see Wreck-It Ralph is for this. The short reminded me of the works of Studio Ghibli and feels like the kind of thing Disney should be making (well, this and ambitious films like Frankenweenie and John Carter), instead of two-hour ads pretending to be movies.

This short was very lovely. The music, as I remember it, was pleasant listening. Thanks for letting us know. That's the one good thing for me about the age of digital downloads - things like this that would otherwise never see the light of day can get released.

I saw Wreck-It Ralph primarily to see this. While the short was indeed beautiful, something about the use of electronics toward the end of the score kinda seemed at odds with the overall look of the short. I don't know, took me out of it a bit.

Wreck it Ralph was solid, could have been a lot better, but it wasn't terrible. I really enjoyed the short as well, and I'm glad this is released (though I don't see why they couldn't make it a bonus track on the Wreck it Ralph score).

None of the Pixar shorts are on the soundtrack of the movie they were originally shown with, so it doesn't really surprise me that it isn't on the Wreck-It Ralph soundtrack. Disney animation is emulating Pixar in most ways lately... I am glad it got a release, even if it is a download.

I thought Wreck-It Ralph was wonderful. Paperman too.

I've been waiting for this to hit the UK or German iTunes/Amazon stores but it still hasn't. Was reminded when I was checking for Tron Uprising. Getting a little miffed with Disney neglecting markets outside the US.

Welcome to the age of digital downloads. Won't it all be wonderful when all music is released like this. Unfortunately it isn't just Disney.

Perhaps, but I do think it's a bit much to expect a full-blown physical CD release for five minutes of score. Were you expecting an hour of outtakes and alternates, or what?
razz

(Not to say I wouldn't welcome a "single"-style CD release if they did it, of course, but in this day and age it's probably just not feasible...)

Not expecting a CD at all - just the ability to be able to buy it in the UK.

As I said, with a certain amount of sarcasm, won't it be wonderful when this is the only method of getting music (or not getting it because you live outside the US and are therefore not important, use a funny currency and smell odd)

Well it sure won't decrease piracy....

This is nice but not unlike what Beck has been writing for years now, for those ten-a-penny family comedies that David Newman got lumbered with for many years.
Many of them never got CD releases - also like David Newman - but anyone enjoying this music should check out scores like UNDER THE TUSCAN SUN and his excellent WE ARE MARSHALL.

Wow, this is adorable! I was a Beck fan back in his Buffy days. Haven't followed him much since then. I'm going to play this (music and short) into the ground.

Very nice (and beautiful) short with very nice music.
I'd buy the piece if it were in lossless

Ah, fair enough. It's surprising to me it's not offered in the UK on Amazon; I'd have expected them to offer it there, even if iTunes isn't...
