I dunno what it is, but there's something about the cover of this thing that gives me 'nostalgia butterflies' in my tummy. Everytime I look at it, I'm reminded of things like my Planet Of The Apes annual, all those Look-In magazine covers, Top Of The Pops LP's, even Kojak bubble gum cards! Help!!! Someone pull me back into the present!
Some great music here! I'm absolutely delighted to see that Then Came Bronson is included, music by Duning and Melle, wonderful, thanks Lukas and FSM. When will this be shipping, need to know as we'll be heading off on holidays soon. Thanks again
1. I'm amazed at the astounding sound quality of many of the tracks! I'd never tought "obscure" TV music from 40 years ago (!) out of some bottomless vault could sound like it was recorded last week (especially the Grusin). How did they preserve the tapes? I'm amazed they did at all, given all those Hollywood tape holocausts we've read about.
2. Just how much TV stuff in those vaults is still waiting to be unearthed again? A lifetime wouldn't be enough to listen to all that, probably.
3. Those were all as far as I see pilots and/or TV movies, no? So what about series like COLUMBO or THE STREETS OF SAN FRANCISCO? Has the music of such series been preserved that well too?
This does look and sound like a tremondous amount of fun. Looking forward to hearing it all. If you'll excuse me, I have to go knock over a liquor store...
Liquor stores are there as a service to the community.
Exactly. And they have full cash registers...
Two bad things can happen here:
1. You can go to jail and have no "film/tv music" to listen to/miss out on numerous 24 hour (24 year) sell outs, or much worse 2. You can do damage to alcoholic beverages that are on sale in your efforts to take cash, illegally, to purchase limited edition film/tv soundtracks.
A must HAVE for this 50s-70s TV music fan. A must WAIT for the money for this fan as well even though Lukas was gracious enough to let us know it was coming.
This is certainly a treasure chest waiting to be explored. A very nice range of composers to say the least. And finally in the past few months, a couple of scores from the great, underrepresented Billy Goldenberg!
The cover artwork looks like one of those special fall issues of TV Guide that I used to get so excited about when I was a kid because it had the previews of the upcoming new shows. Looks like a super package from FSM!
Just did a quick sampling of some of the cues and boy is this gonna be one great ride!
