I only have a couple Edelman scores: DRAGONHEART, THE LAST OF MOHICANS, DAYLIGHT, and SIX DAYS, SEVEN NIGHTS. Of the three, I listen to DRAGONHEART the most. DAYLIGHT has gotten about four spins in the time I've had it, since the movie came out. SIX DAYS, SEVEN NIGHTS, I thought, was sort of lackluster, but I do love some tracks, like "Maketea," "Pink Kawala," and (my favorite) "Fixing the Old Beaver." But I love DRAGONHEART and can't understand why some people say it sounds too "synthy." I think it sounds just fine. I listen to THE LAST OF MOHICANS all the time as well, and despite what people say, it still sounds like it was all by one composer to me. Everyone says you can hear a clear distinction between the two's work, but I can't. Another Edelman score I like is TWINS, which was another collaborative effort, with Georges Delerue. I love "Going to Santa Fe" and am searching for the Ah-nold compilation that has that track, but it appears to be OOP. I would like to get THE QUEST. Even though I haven't watched my DVD in sometime, I recall enjoying the score, especially the main title.

He's not a favorite composer of mine, BUT... His theme from The Distinguished Gentleman(1st track on the CD) is a CLASSIC piece of music! You HAVE to smile when you're listening to it! I'm surprised it was never given any airplay on top 40 radio stations! And it's also a lot of fun to play on the keyboard!

My favorite Edelman scores would be the ones that got rejected and didn't end up ruining the movies they were attached to.

Randy Edelman will never be a composer who people look to with bated breath on a film project, but I for one feel, when the opportunity arose, he always delivered a good decent effort. I LOVE the "expanded" collectors edition of "GETTYSBURG" (of course I love the film) and I think that anyone that saw that film, and listens to the SECOND disc in that re-release of the soundtrack will get much more of a different impression of him and the score. He is a very "serviceable" composer (I hate to use that term for anyone gifted enough to write film music) who always brings quality and understanding to the films he scores. If any of you have that 2 disc "Gettysburg", please comment on it, but I believe that score was a great effort on his part. I liked (and own) his "Kindergarten Cop" score as well, and find it an entertaining listen. Not all films can have a Williams, Barry, or Goldsmith score, and to the men and women who do their best when called on, people like Randy Edelman, I say "Thank you".

Must admit that I haven't got too many Edelman scores in my collection but I do enjoy 'Shanghai Noon'.

I'm not a big Edelman fan either, but I do like his scores to Gettysburg, Dragonheart, Kindergarten Cop, The Last of the Mohicans, and Six Days, Seven Nights. He does, however, use guitars and synthesizers way too much.
