I'd like to draw attention to this obscure classic. The score is adventurous and lyrical; a must for Barry fans. Many might think of an LP re-issue as a terrible idea (the running time being 26 mins), but according to new research done with the existing DVD release, there are only about 6 mins of unreleased music. In other words: INTRADA...PLEASE smile?

Don't you think a single thread would have gotten your point across, Alex?

This Barry thing of yours....

Alex, I'm with you on this one... a complete version of this score is one of my white whales... I've been chasing it (harpoon in hand) for years.

A highlight for me is “John and Amy Meet” where the main theme is rendered quite wonderfully. Barry releases are always welcomed by me too, Alex!

Yeah, come on Alex - you're pushing some of the Goldsmith threads off the first page! I'm desperate to know what everyone's favourite film is that Jerry might have scored but wasn't asked to.

LP with 23 min of Barry score (dont count William Tell overture), but I remember the main theme repeated 2-3 times...

so, much more music in film?

If not, then reissuing the LP should be good for me, even with some narration (or maybe with alternate non-narrated versions, if possible)

EVEN BETTER would be pairing it with another Barry-LP, of course (INTRADA??)

Another one I have on vinyl! And another I'd buy instantly on CD (though I don't remember thinking it was great - it was certainly decent, and it's certainly by John Barry, which is good enough reason for me to buy any CD).

Never cared for this one, sorry to say. A hideously bad album presentation, a bad song, narration, etc.
It's just not good enough of an album to warrant the time and money involved to issue it.

Yeah-there has to be more than 6 minutes of music missing from the LP release.

Not only does this need an uncut cd re-release, it also needs to be released on dvd in the US. I know there's a UK version available.

So, none of you would buy a straight LP re-issue?

I'd really really really hesitate. For me the MCA LP just doesn't do the score justice, in face it makes it seem to be a wholly lesser effort. But expanded as much as possible, songs/narration removed...? Maybe.

There are other Barry straight LP presentations I'd go for over it.

It definitely doesn't do the score justice, but i'd get it.

If you both say that you are implying the film score is actually better than the LP. But what's really missing ?? (besides narration)

I'd buy it, of course, because it would be remastered and official.

But there are certain cues I'm dying to have that aren't on the album... the music for Tonto when he's looking down at the dead bodies of the Texas Rangers... the final battle... and there's some music for Cavendish that's missing too.

Might not be more than ten or fifteen minutes extra, but I'd love to have it. I'll even take the songs - I can always program them out if I want.

cool

Roger Feigelson did express his disapproval toward the LP release, which serves as proof that Intrada probably won't do a re-issue.

Nope. I only buy vinyl when it's the only alternative (and, yes, I bought a 180g vinyl of the Hawaii Five-0 soundtrack, and it's under 30 mintues).

My preference is always for a CD. And John Barry!
