The only thing I didn't like was the ending. Before you go off on me, it's not what you think. I thought the revelation at the end was clever, but I don't think it was pulled off right. The movie just doesn't come to a proper climax. The exact same problem I felt RULES OF ENGAGEMENT had. It just didn't feel like an end to me. Usually you know when the end of the movie is in sight, but not with this one.Otherwise it's a great first act of a trilogy. I hope they make the next two. The score had a nice theme too. This might sound stupid, but I love Unbreakable for it's beauty. Never before there was a film as beautiful as this one. The cinematography, music, the acting and of course the slow but intensive directing. I still think Newton-Howard should have gotten an Oscar-nomination for his score (at least). The ending was okay. I was surprised. Blame me. A lot of people saw it comming, but I was so deep into the texture of the movie that it just hit me in the end. Shayamalan (?) obviuosely planned this to be the first of many movies with David Dunn (or at least a comic world in reality). What impressed me the most was the style of telling a story. We see the birth of a super hero so natural and so believable that it makes you wonder why it took so long to make a film like this. No Spuerman, Batman X-Men and so on can compete with what the director has done here. I still wonder why there are some people think this is a dull and boring film. It's not. Once you get used to it's pace it's great entertainment.

I can totally understand the whole "beauty" concept of the film. Serra's cinematography was startling. Every shot had an artistic tone of some sort(my favorite was just as he was entering that big building; those lights beaming down from the ceiling). Howards score is phenomenal. I'm not just talking about The drumbeat song. I'm talking about the Elijah's theme, and the nighttime sequences, and the Zelda-like, heroic main title. Best of all- the DVD enhances all of this! It's one of the best that I've purchased in a long time. The deleted scenes rock. One in particular shows Willis breaking down in the shower(a showcase of Serra's art once again. It shows Bruce's face with the water pouring down on him. It just gives you chills. I curse anyone who ever insulted this film's boredome. This makes it even more delightful. I mean, we got to see normal(if not dysfunctional) people, living in a modern world of ugliness, who find happiness through this incredible ability. It couldn't have been done without the screenplay. It was just so real.romy -Can't wait for SIGNS to come out!

I thought the ending was clever and nice. We had it coming.As for the beautiful cinematography, this is a clear spielbergian inspiration. And Shyamalan has gone on record to state his admiration for the director, so it's not surprising, really.

I thought Unbreakable a very good film.
Ah, but then I'm no filmmaker, so what do I know?
JNH's score is magnificent. listen to it quite a bit. Could be a bit louder though.

I am a HUGE fan of this movie and score! Utterly ignored by critics and the Academy, it deserved some nominations at least. Everything about "Unbreakable" is great! The acting, story, score, directing, frame composition, lighting, etc., etc. I even love the ending. The DVD presentation is superb! Beautiful transfer. I'm only disappointed that it didn't have a Director's Commentary track recorded for it.

M. Night Shamyalan is my new favourite director, ousting Spielberg. This guy is brilliant and I don't think we've even really seen what he is truly capable. This guy clearly loves movies. You can see this is in his painstaking attention to detail in both the Sixth Sense and even more so in Unbreakable (do I sense another classic collaboration in the works with Shamyalan & Willis?). I CANNOT wait for his next film.I also love his DVDs, he and Kevin Smith put out the best DVDs. Hey James Cameron, thanks for all the time you put into the Aliens DVD! Did Cameron even know about the Aliens DVD, I hope not, because he didn't participate in it AT ALL. Smith and Shamyalan are the best there are right now. Smith writes the best dialogue, even the oh-so-flawed Mallrats had some of the best lines and some great gags. I loved the ending to Unbreakable, and I too was shocked how this film was utterly ignored both critically and commercially. Remember, though, films like Vertigo were ignored as well upon their initial release as well...

Unbreakable was (along with Chicken Run the best film of last year. Very well scored by James Newton Howard, too. The ending was spectacular precisely because it was subdued. Go figure, whereas Hollywood movies get more and more cartoonlike with lots of special effects, one of the most subtle and carefully constructed films was about comic strips. Kinda ironic. Samuel L. Jackson was terrific.

This is one of my personal favorite scores, and what I consider to be one of J.N.H.'s best scores. A nubmer of tracks are some of my all-time favorite cues.
"The Wreck" is simply fantastic.
I'd say it's easily one of his two finest scores to Shyamalan (the other being the amazing "Signs").

I can't get a handle on Howard; much of his work i.e.Skyfall, leaves me cold, but his scores for this director are superb,
That's probably because Skyfall was by Thomas Newman.
