I'd buy now. The chances of more expanded versions in the near future appear slim.

As far as I'm aware, there has been a peculiar silence on the possibility of future James Bond expansions. Some have speculated that the James Bond scores fall into a dreaded zone of being big enough that they won't be entrusted to the specialty labels, but not big enough that Sony would expand and release them themselves. But that's just speculation. As we all saw, there was a golden period of opportunity in 2003 when several of the earlier scores were gloriously expanded. So...anything's possible? As you mention, 2012 would have been the time to expect new expansions. But it's anyone's guess if or when they might see the light of day now. Last summer, one of our board members was talking about possibly financing a rerecording of Moonraker, so there might yet be that, but there's been no word about it since the original flurry of excitement. If I were you, I would just go in for your favorites now. They're priced reasonably enough at Amazon, Screen Archives, etc. that you shouldn't be too crushed if expansions of The Man with the Golden Gun, The Spy Who Loved Me, Moonraker, Octopussy, A View to a Kill, Licence to Kill, GoldenEye, Tomorrow Never Dies, The World Is Not Enough, Die Another Day or Skyfall do arrive. (That being said, I personally haven't yet replaced my own lost The Man with the Golden Gun CD yet; my other lost James Bond CDs, I have replaced.) Like yourself, and I'm sure many others, I too am eagerly awaiting the slightest bit of actual news on the possibility of James Bond expansions. Hopefully one day, as with the films themselves, James Bond will return.

From MV of La La Land: "Bond is still up in the air (a matter I hope we can resolve in the near fture..at least on SOME titles)."

@ Marek7: Thanks for the replies guys! Yeah, I wish he could be more specific but understand why he really can't. I have about 3 or 4 favorite Bond scores I think I might buy. Even a hint that new Bond scores are coming is all I need to hear to hold off. Thanks again everyone! There's still no certainty any expanded scores will come out though. Earlier in the year, MV mentioned a David Arnold project he feared might not happen. Don't know whether that was a James Bond score or not, or what it's current status is, but sometimes projects get derailed. But yes, knowing my favorite label is working toward making some expanded Bond scores happen definitely brightens my day. @ Jameson281: Some have speculated that the James Bond scores fall into a dreaded zone of being big enough that they won't be entrusted to the specialty labels, but not big enough that Sony would expand and release them themselves. Sony has nothing to do with any of the Bond films except for the Daniel Craig ones. Danjaq/Eon, MGM and EMI would be the interested parties. Ah, gotcha. I know very little about who owns what.

I can't speak for most of the catalog, but I have all the Barry Connery-era expansions. They are all available for dirt cheap and some of them are packed with 79 minutes' worth of music. I can't imagine re-purchasing most of these, unless they find the lost music from the first three films. Yep. The existing expansions are a very good thing to have, and bargain priced. Newly re-expanded complete sets would be great, but if it doesn't happen we still got a lot.

And I still don't understand - seems that only EMI is the real problem - Kritzerland & Quartet re-released Casino Royale for 3 time! And have no big problems... Maybe I'm wrong, but I think that this happened 'cause EMI don't have any publishing rights for this album. Just look - only MGM logo... EON is the issue MV

EON is the issue MV So, they want to hold rights for all official Bond films but also they are not so strict when we speak about unofficial movies? There's no point in speculating about potentially sensitive matters we aren't a party to. So I'll just go ahead. My guess is that EON either doesn't want to devote the time and legal fees to a vintage music project these days, or else they are not familiar with the high quality of our boutique soundtrack labels and haven't been willing to get acquainted.

From MV of La La Land: "Bond is still up in the air (a matter I hope we can resolve in the near fture..at least on SOME titles)." Thank you, MV! These are the most promising news concerning Bond scores in a long time. If La-la-land could release the remaining titles in an expanded and remastered version it would be pure greatness - as everything La-la-land does. Sucking up... but really, it´s true.
