How about Celtic knocking off a surprisingly flaccid Ajax? Strange how the three-times-running champions of Eredivisie are so pathetic in the CL.

Yes, well played by Celtic, they haven't had much luck in their previous 2 games so they deserved some against Ajax. I think they have been excellent in the UCL the last couple of seasons, considering their resources and obstructions put in their way by UEFA.

As for Ajax, well that pretty much shows how far the Dutch Eredivisie has fallen in recent years. When you compare them to some of the great Ajax teams of years past (4 times European Cup Winners), this one doesn't compare. No money, have to sell their better playes and hope to bring through some talented youngsters. Admirable, but they will never be challenging again.

Poor fella cannnot go anywhere without people reminding him about his leg break and world cup omission, or asking him what Don Revie was really like!!! ha ha. Do you want a personalised autograph??

He runs the Leeds after-dinner speaking and suites at elland road now and acts as agent for the team.

Heh I suppose the third thing people say is: you always had that over-rated George Best in your pocket, didn't you.

A scribble on a napkin would be a wondrous thing indeed...

I'll do the weekly OCD recap tomorrow though I'm sure Kev McGann won't be reminding me this week to include the Manchester United result (they're not my team, by the way).

Watching El Clasico now and the viewing figures are estimated at half a billion! It makes me laugh when the Super Bowl is touted as the "most watched event in TV history" when they get 100 million watching; it really is to laugh.

barca so far have the edge but ref giving them a few decisions. Bale - who is not for sale - getting a bit knocked about but so far no change from the ref.

Tomorrow west ham lose away to swansea.
Probably by 2, 3 or more.
1 more week before we are in the bottom 3.

It's Chelsea-Manchester City today! I'll go out on a non-limb and pick Chelsea to win, 2-1.

I fancy City meself today, so we shall see.

Lots of fall-out from old purple noses new book, wherein he seems to be contradicting all the things he said in his previous books.
Sadly, for all his success (in England, anyway, he can only be counted a failure for what he didn't achieve in Europe over 25 years, with all the money he had), he's coming across as one bitter old fart who resented everything in the game but himself.
And I don't think he's doing his old club any favours at the moment, but then, it's always been about Fergie and he will try to see it stays that way for as long as he can.
The man has no class.

Week Nine October 26-27, 2013

Liverpool 4 West Brom 1- A Luis Suarez hat trick--one of which was a delightful header from 18 yards out--and a Daniel Sturridge goal--the latter leading to yet another "body pop" that Thomas and Kev will no doubt emulate on YouTube--sweeps the Reds past the Baggies at Anfield. Well done.

Swansea City 0 West Ham 0- Far from delightful match in far from delightful weather gives Bill's beloved Hammers a point away at Liberty Stadium. West Ham inches up to 15th place on the table.

"Who Dares Wins" Award:

Sunderland 2 Newcastle 1- Thanks to their victory, Sunderland rise from the bottom and send Crystal Palace to the dreaded 20th position on the table.

English Championship

Huddersfield 3 Leeds United 2- A Leeds own goal proves to be the murderous difference at TG's side fall to their vaunted rival in the West Yorkshire derby.

I'm not a betting man but thanks all the same! Chelsea looked strong today and were ceaselessly on the attack. I'll admit to taking great pleasure out of Joe Hart's miscue.

Did you see Pelligrini storm off without shaking Mourinho's hand? If another manager of, say, a different Manchester team had done that I'm sure you boys would be harrumphing like crazy. wink

Six yellow cards for Stoke City in yesterday's loss. What a bunch of dirty Sons of Barabbus!

Rome wasn't built in a day!

Good luck to Huddersfield this season (even though mostly their fans HATE Leeds with a passion) - Yorkshire is under-represented in the higher echelons of even the Championship and whilst we're still building a team that will get us back on familiar territory, the white rose needs to have teams that can make others look over their shoulder.

I was at our game on Saturday, a convincing win against a rather mediocre West Brom. The SAS certainly do look impressive together, and I enjoyed our goals. I'm still a little concerned about the defence, the way we play we give the opposition chances.

Also, as a little added bonus, I was up close and personal with tennis player Caroline Wozniacki before the game. Very nice, gentlemenwink

hammers v burnley cup tonite as wel.

when a championship team in-form meets a poor prem side there is usualy only one outcome.

Which i got wrong.

Arsenal was funny. Sat with a room of mostly arsenal fans on a big telly.
Much mumbling when the chelseA goals went in.
then a load of comments about the capital cup being shit anyway.
Followed by an empty room long before the end.
