If the final score is 5-3 with the margin being that bonehead collision, then Bubba Crosby will become the fall-guy as far as Steinbrenner is concerned. Sheffield has too big a contract so that's why he'd survive, but Crosby will be gone for sure.
Nope. Torre has too much insurance built up over the years that George knows he could never do that. Joe put it best when he said, "George stuck with me in the early years, and now he's stuck with me." When Joe leaves it will be on his own initiative.
4 more outs...game is in the hand of Francisco Rodriguez now. If he has good stuff, game over...if he doesn't bring it...I won't be at Angel stadium friday and saturday night.
A-Rod and Sheffield, who have been post-season busts in both years with the team now have a chance to undo that. If not, then I will give my congratulations to the Angels for doing what they had to do.
You said it. After $-Rod erased Jeter's lead-off single with that double play, I was reminded of his bone-headed glove slap at first base in the ALCS last year. Speaking of which, I'm surprised that not much was made out of the Yankee collapse of 2004. More was made of how the Red Sox won rather than how the Yankees imploded. The greatest postseason collapse ever.
Anyway...this year reminds me of 2002, when the Twins-Angels were the AL finalists. Nice to see both "Evil Empires" eliminated in the first round. I'm usually a National Leaguer, but this year I'm rooting for whoever wins the AL penant. I've watched the ChiSox a lot this season and the Angels play with a lot of heart.
