Looks like he's taking a cartoony Star Wars approach with The Hobbit.

I blame the HFR and the 3D processing time. That stuff takes a long time and he is really cutting this close. They should have skipped the 3D. Its hard to believe that the 3rd film is supposed to be ready by Summer 2014.

They pushed it back to Dec.

The Secret Life of Walter Mitty, from Ben Stiller -- the first film he's directed since Tropic Thunder. The subject matter should give Theodore Shapiro a chance to spread his wings, too.

So, the new RoboCop, from José Padilha. Maybe it's just nostalgia speaking but I doubt this will be a patch on Verhoeven's.

Someone on Facebook said it perfectly: this will be forgotten in two weeks after it opens, just like the Total Recall remake, while the original will be remembered for many more years to come.

And I still say that this Robocop looks more like just a man in a suit than an actual robotic machine like the original.

The impression I get from the Robocop trailer is that Murphy is more immediately aware of what has happened to him instead of being a programmed computer. We will see. What makes Verhoeven's film great is the corporate satire and the gruesome-yet-comical violence. Maybe they're going for something different here. I'll give it a chance.

Trailer was very disappointing beyond the Michael Keaton bits.

Ugh...I hate to say it but this is the first time since the film's announcement that I'm starting to think that RoboCop might....might....have some potential....

I agree that the robot looks way too much like a suit worn by the actor.
Something wrong there. This looks like a throwaway picture for sure.

The idea of the family knowing and him interacting with them is a new shade that I actually like. I didn't have any hopes but this looks promising now to me ESPECIALLY since its from the director of ELITE SQUAD 1 and 2.

Why does RoboCop talk with a mechanical voice when his mouth appears organic, and not filtered behind a mouth piece? LOL

The original film had Murphy's voice mechanized as well, until he regained his humanity. The voice in this one does sound heavier, though.

I don't remember that, but the last time I saw the film was back in the VHS days.

I'm very happy today - the trailer for the new Wes Anderson has just been posted. It looks marvelously bonkers. "Take your hands off my lobby boy!"

It looks great indeed. I used to not love Wes Anderson and I still don't love everything he's done, but he's nevertheless one of my favorites working today.

Agreed completely on this assessment of the Robocop trailer.
