Meanwhile, in other sci-fi model news (not about models offered commercially to fans, but unmistakably news about sci-fi models), TrekCore has a new article about the Smithsonian's current restoration of the original 11-foot shooting miniature of the Enterprise:

Yes, this is awesome news!!! The last restoration was a butcher job, and it's since been falling apart. I understand ppl that know the Enterprise and passionate about it will be involved in restoring her as close as possible to her original state.

So did I, and that was a great kit. The new version looks even better.

Always loved the Power Loader in the film. It was pure movie magic in the days before cartoonish looking CGI.

First time ever, styrene plastic model kit of the spaceships from Earth vs The Flying Saucers. Very small, only 5 inches wide and three parts! But it's a kit anyone can build and affordable.

SOLIUM:

I might get the kit, but unfortunately it requires painting.
Even though five inches is relatively small, Harryhausen's Flying Saucers were the highlight of the movie, and the Atlantis model is bigger than model I currently have from the movie (see photo).

Here's a video of the kit.

That's really cool! I wish the Atlantis kit came with a few in scale aliens. They said instead they plan a supplemental kit with the figures and maybe a few other add-ons.
