Paramount Home Media Entertainment's Star Trek: The Next Generation, Season 1 and Star Trek: The Next Generation, Season 2 packages are on sale this week. One of the most iconic television dramas ever made, this science-fiction series focuses on the continuing adventures of the Starship Enterprise as its crew explores exciting - and often dangerous - world and galaxies.
Both multi-disc sets offer newly restored versions of the Season One and Season Two episodes; Paramount has mastered all of them in 1080p and presented them in their broadcast aspect ratio of 1.33:1 with 7.1 DTS-HD Master Audio tracks. The Star Trek packages have many bonus materials as well, such as audio commentaries on selected episodes, archival mission logs, extended episodes, gag reels, and behind-the-scenes featurettes.
Star Trek: The Next Generation, Season 1 and 2 are $52.49 each, or 60% of their respective SRPs of $129.99.
Deals expire at 12 AM PST/3 AM EST next Sunday, April 28th.
Paramount and CBS Home Entertainment have released a First Look trailer for Star Trek: The Next Generation, Season 4, and revealed the special features that will be included on the 6-disc set. Like previous seasons, the Blu-ray edition of Season 4 will feature a newly remastered 1080p video presentation, a DTS-HD Master Audio 7.1 surround track and more than 20-hours of extras, among them a variety of new exclusive content.
A street date has yet to be set for the critically acclaimed 26-episode season of The Next Generation, but pre-orders will be available at Amazon soon.

This past Friday we passed along word that a high-def Blu-ray Disc release of Star Trek: The Next Generation - Season 4 is coming to stores this summer. Today CBS DVD and Paramount Home Entertainment formally announced this title for July 30th, and on the same day they'll also release Star Trek: The Next Generation - Redemption on Blu-ray. Like The Best of Both Worlds (due in stores tomorrow), this is the two part season-ending cliffhanger strung together as one complete story. The Redemption BD will include Audio Commentary with Ronald D. Moore and Mike & Denise Okuda, as well as Episode Promos and the "Survive and Succeed: An Empire at War" Featurette. List price is expected to be $24.99 SRP, and the package art is shown below (early image; may not be final and could be subject to change). Note that the studio announcement today also confirmed the list of bonus material reported Friday for the Season 4 BD set, and that the cost for the 6-disc package is expected to be $129.99 SRP for that item (see box art again at the bottom).

Both Redemption and the 6-disc season set arrive on Blu-ray on July 30th and feature newly remastered video presentations, a DTS-HD Master Audio 7.1 track and a variety of notable extras.
CBS/Paramount has today announced Blu-ray Disc releases for both Star Trek: The Next Generation - Season 5 ($129.99 SRP) and Star Trek: The Next Generation - Unification ($24.99 SRP), with both high-def titles slated to be in stores on November 19th. Paramount and CBS Home Entertainment have also revealed the upcoming Blu-ray release of Star Trek: The Next Generation, Chain of Command by way of a second trailer. The single-disc release features the sixth season's 10th and 11th episodes, "Chain of Command Part I" and "Part II," edited together to deliver a feature-length presentation. Additional exclusive bonus content will be included as well.
Chain of Command Synopsis: Tensions rise as a possible Cardassian attack looms, and Picard, Dr. Crusher and Worf are sent on a secret mission to find and destroy suspected biological weapons. The headstrong replacement captain, Edward Jellico, is cold and demanding -- to the dismay of the remaining crew. But when Picard is captured by the Cardassians and tortured for information, dismay turns to anger and resistance as Jellico's plans exclude a rescue mission. With his options running out, Picard must fight to save his sanity and ultimately his life.
Paramount and CBS have yet to detail Season 6 and Chain of Command's special features.
