Germany's Marco Reus will also miss the World Cup due to an ankle injury sustained in yesterday's friendly vs Armenia.

Did anyone see the Mexico-Portugal friendly last night? Nice back and forth from both teams and a damn wonder goal in extra time from the Ronaldo-less Portugal to win it. I kept worrying that more players would be injured due to the "Walking Wounded" theme of this year's World Cup.

England are still here in Miami and play Honduras this afternoon. It'll be 31 Celsius at game time.

And thundery! Game suspended due to risk of lightning...

And the highly intelligent (not) Ian Wright has just described the match as "damp squiddish".

That must be the underwater version of Harry Potter's favourite game.

Its good that England laboured against '4000/1 to win the World Cup Honduras'.
Maybe the media will reassess what will be viewed as success for England when it all kicks off.

A boring & pointless game, & with players trying not to get injured before the tournament, maybe Honduras (a physical team=dirty) wasn't the best choice!

I think success for England means getting through the first round.

Quite the hailstorm during last night's match against Tunisia; lots of fans' cars got damaged!

I don't think you can read to much into that, Kev. There's been lots of games in the build ups that have produced less than impressive performances and results for the likes of Brazil and Italy, it typically happens before tournaments. I think the team he started with against Honduras will be close to the first choice however and I think England will get out of the group.

Jozy Altidore gets the monkey off his back, scoring two goals and helping the US past Nigeria, 2-1, in the US's final official tune up before the World Cup.

...it was also Everton goalkeeper Tim Howard's 100th cap.

Welcome to the thread, Khan.

Was it the monkey on his back that kept making him fall over all the time?wink

Anyone else surprised at Jurgen leaving Landon Donovan out of 'Team USA'?

Thanks!

My mom threatened to murder me during the USA vs Portugal game during the 2002 Cup, so I'm always stoked this time of year.

Heh - nice to see Graham's alter ego return...

In other news, Sepp Blatter completely undermines the enquiry into bribery allegations in respect of Qatar being awarded the 2022 world cup by pre-judging them as being motivated by racism. Wonder how much he got for saying that.

I don't understand all the shock horror about Qatar. When it was awarded to them, everyone knew that it was down to outrageously huge bungs...& no one is even mentioning Russia smile
