Of course the Odd Couple Season 1 has already been available by mail order, and I was glad to take advantage of it that way as it allowed me to watch the Christmas episode at the right time of year! smile

I know that all episodes of both seasons of "Desilu Playhouse" are around as they are releasing the Lucille Ball-Desi Arnaz episodes of the series this spring. It'd be criminal not to include the pilot.

So what happened to "The Invaders" season 1 that was suppose to be released in France this month?

Speaking of Desilu, anyone bugged by Ricky's laugh? Like a honking sound that doesn't change pitch.

They come to France in Flying Saucers and burn to a cinder with geometric pistols all the evidences of the series. Plot or paranoia?

A definite buy. I was jamming to Nelson Riddle's TV theme compilation over the weekend. I love his title theme for this show.

"THE UNTOUCHABLES! A DESILU production"

I'm still waiting for Batman. frown Will it ever come? It hasn't even been on TV for many many years. You'd think the demand is there.

It won't come until the contractual difficulties are straightened out and that could be never, alas. I've just had to make do with an off-air set from TV Land Canada which at least showed the episodes uncut.

Newest info from tvshowsondvd.com is that there will be a release of Season 2 of "The Bill Cosby Show" this year (which will complete the show's run), which is good news.

Also announced is Season 1 of "Maude" which is one show I will not buy under any circumstances. (And no, I don't even find Adrienne Barbeau a reason to get it, since I never rated her that high).

I recall the attempts at "serious" issues, like spousal abuse when Arthur smacks Maude and the studio audience laughed, because they thought that since the show was (ostensibly) a "comedy", that everything was supposed to be "funny."

This is from today's "We Love Lucy" fan board.

"The Untouchables" Comes to DVD

Desilu Productions' second-most-successful television series, "The Untouchables," starring Robert Stack, is coming to DVD April 3.

CBS plans to release all 28 episodes of season one (1959-60), but this initial set will include only the first 14 episodes (spread out over 4 discs). It will also include the two-part "Desilu Playhouse" production that inspired the weekly show.

Part Two of Season One will be released later in the year.

The same extras in the Time-Life release will be in this. Three commentaries and some bonus footage.

Despite my earlier qualms about the first season, I know I'll be getting this!

A simple google search brings up DVD sets of:

THE ALFRED HITCHCOCK HOUR (3 seasons, 93 eps on 18 discs)

Boris Karloff's THRILLER (2 seasons, 67 eps on 17 discs)

I doubt these are legit releases and they are quite expensive. Will their existence make it less likely for the release of legitmate versions?

They are not legitimate releases. If you don't see it through Amazon.com or some other legit retailer, it's just someone selling off-air recordings.
