With the World Cup on the way, do the denizens of this thread think that a separate thread for that event should be in order? It'd keep things neat and tidy and then we could return here for transfer news and the start of the 2014-15 league football year.

Start away, old boy!

It's done! Flagellate and speculate away, old stick(s). I took the liberty of ripping off poor old Kev's 2010 World Cup thread.

Chelsea 1 Atletico Madrid 3

The all-Madrid UEFA Final is now a reality and thank goodness too, as Chelsea are an excruciatingly dull team to watch in any match.

Didnt we have a thread on world cup qualificatipn started by one of our colombian collectors??
Could have adapted that? Plenty of engerland slagging in that already!!!

So here we are then. The end of the season nearly. I never thought when i signed up for sky sports that i would have watched so few games.

Amazing how your own team playing shit makes you lose interest in all football.

Well atletico going through at stamford bridge is a turn up.
Is that right jim, first time ever two teams from same city have contended final?

Thats true jim they can be dreary but Chelsea are usually only dull when theyre playing someone better than them. Nothing dull about hazard willian and oscar running riot against some prem league whipping boys!! - which is most of the teams below 7th!!

Quite exciting finale at the bottom of the championship saturday. All four teams involved are playing teams that dont have anything to play for. Leeds did their utmost to be involved but didnt quite make it!!

Bill, is that your way of telling us which thread you PREFER? wink

Since England and Colombia have finally qualified, I felt the need for an accurately-titled topic was necessary. wink Besides, if some blaggard saw a mere "qualifying thread" and not a proper WC one, ours would be relegated to the curb like some disused prom date.

Be sure to weigh in with your views over in the 2014 WC topic, lest that thread become buried under d the m-type nonsense.

The CL final is being played in Mr Football's home country of Portugal. I'm betting he plays extra intense since he has yet to win the CL with Real Madrid and I'm sure that EURO 2004 final--played in the same stadium--might weigh on his mind. Atletico are tricky and clever, as they proved in last year's Cop del Rey against Real. It's going to be a good final, I think.

Special thanks to Chelsea for not advancing to the final this year. No smirking John Terry, vacant-eyed Fernando Torres, or complaining Ashley Cole. Gary Cahill's the only Blues dope I remotely respect.

She's a lovely lass, I'm sure, but couldn't they have shown less of her face and more of her splendid backside?

Hammers safe, its official, film at 10.30!

Bein up for game against ten men doesnt forgive a season of utter wank sprinkled with a few spawny wins in which most of them we rode our luck and could easily have lost.

Hotting up at the top!

Shame about fulham. Kind sweet innocent inoffensive club that they are.

Sunderland played well. Is that the giggs effect done with now.?!
So it wasnt moyes fault after all - Their players must be still mostly crap then?.

Hey, did you see the Manchester Giggses kick some Norwich arse yesterday? lol The beginning of a dynasty me thinks. big grin

Ha, a very short lived dynasty! Cardiff are down, owner Vincent Tan will probably sack a few people. Shame about Fulham, it's a lovely little ground (from the far off days when I actually went to a few games). Arsenal in the top four, & hopefully Liverpool doing what they do best, wailing, it's not fair, when they just fail to be top. And well done Sunderland, I hope I'm not putting the boggers on them, as they're not quite out of the woods yet.

Yeah, what is this game, soccer?

My nephew is a huge Liverpool fan, & when (as I hope) they fail, I'll put my hand on his shoulder & say in my serious face, sorry to hear about Liverpool mate...yes I'm that evil!

"Liverpool doing what they do best, wailing, it's not fair, when they just fail to be top"
----------------------------
If they fail to finish top next week (or tomorrow, for that matter, although it can't be decided fully even after the visit to the Palace), there will be no wailing from this Kopite.
Sure, I'll be hugely disappointed we couldn't hold on to top spot, but thinking back 12 months ago, when we were languishing in 7th place (behind even Everton and Spurs), with Utd winning their 20th title at a canter AND our major star player auditioning for a part in The Walking Dead!, things looked grim indeed.
Now, we've played arguably the best (and most entertaining) football in the top flight, are still in the mix with two games to go and Zombie boy has just been crowned Player of the Year by everyone in football.
We're back in the Champions League (at Man U's expense) and look like we could be even stronger next season.
I would say these are GOOD TIMES!!
(c'mon Villa and Bill's Boys) wink

Kev if you are relying on west ham to turn up at man city - dont hold your breath. You might need a very large scuba divers air tank!!
We seem to make a habit of folding against them.

Ironic Shame if the season comes down to one slip from gerrard after an indian summer year from him.

Benteke might be your best bet of hope!

The trouble with teams who are safe, they will either be on holiday already and get their agents to phone in a performance.
Or coz they are relaxed they can suddenly annoyingly do what they couldnt do all bloody season when it mattered - pass and play football.

Wonderful mid-air back heeled goal from ronaldo yesterday.
Looks like atletico may have blown it, another title down to the wire.

Aye Bill, Big Sams Total Brand of Football will be Citeh's undoing wink
They won't be able to cope with Big Andy, aiming to get on that plane to Brazil.
3 monster headers from corners and set-pieces will knock the Sky Blues for six.
Benteke is, unfortunately, injured (and has been for a few weeks now). He will also miss the World Cup with Belgium.
But I'll take some heroics from Agbonlahor, Weimann or Delph to also deal Citeh a major blow.
That just leaves our boys to take all the points at Palace (I actually have a bad feeling about tonights game, if I'm honest).

So it wasnt all down to Gerrards slip then in the end?
That slightly dodgy defence went a bit missing.

Man city drop points tomorrow and its wide open again.
But it is citys to lose now. A good win puts them in a very strong position given their visitors are the feeble hammers in the last game.
In theory a few crosses on carrolls head could cause them problems but like i said before instead of getting the ball in quick we fanny about and the crosses never arrive.
