TCM CARSON RARE INTERVIEWS continues on MONDAY JULY 8TH-This week we have- DORIS DAY-CHARLTON HESTON-CHEVY CHASE- STEVE MARTIN AND TONY CURTIS.These interviews are fun to watch, I really liked his interview last week with NEIL SIMON, Down to earth- quote from Neil, sometimes I can't wait to get to the typewriter when a great idea hits me, other mornings I go to open the door with my keys hoping the door won't open [ha-ha] I could relate to that like nearly all screen play writers I am sure could.

TCM on TUESDAY JULY 9TH will have a GLENN FORD MARATHON-Here are the films that will be shown . . . RAMSOM -56 . . . RANSOM! has not been made available on any home video format. The film is based on the teleplay "Fearful Decision" by Cyril Hume and Richard Maibaum, which appeared on The U.S. Steel Hour on ABC on 22 June 1954. In 1996, that teleplay was used as the basis for another film entitled RANSOM, directed by Ron Howard and starring Mel Gibson and Rene Russo. The 1996 RANSOM was similar to the 1956 film but included some scenes surrounding the kidnapping and capture of the criminals. The 1996 film also included several subplots not in the teleplay or the 1956 picture.

Today, July 12, at 5:15 PM ET, Turner Classic Movies will be showing the 1955 Errol Flynn film THE WARRIORS. This historical adventure, set in 14th Century England, has never had a DVD release. TCM is promising a widescreen showing. A written foreword in the opening credits reads: "During the Thirteenth and Fourteenth Centuries, England and France fought a series of wars that lasted one hundred years. On both sides, the men who fought in these wars were, for the most part, completely and unselfishly dedicated to their respective causes. None was more devoted to his country than Edward Prince of Wales, known to history as 'The Black Prince,' England's greatest warrior of the period." THE WARRIORS was a joint production between Allied Artists and Twentieth Century-Fox. The studios agreed to co-produce the picture, along with the 1954 release “The Adventures of Hajji Baba,” while retaining distribution rights to separate territories. For THE WARRIORS, Allied Artists distributed the picture in the Western Hemisphere, and Fox distributed it in the Eastern Hemisphere. The deal was struck because Fox was anxious to increase the immediate availability of CinemaScope pictures in the early years of that format. The working title of the film was “The Black Prince.” It was shot at Associated British Picture Corp. Studios, Elstree, England, and was Allied Artists’ first multi-million dollar production. The picture marked Errol Flynn's last appearance in an historical action film. The film’s score was by Cedric Thorpe Davie and was performed by The London Orchestra under the baton of Louis Levy. The picture was released in England in mid-April 1955 under the title “The Dark Avenger.” As THE WARRIORS, it opened in New York on 9 September 1955.
