"Daniel Boone" is winning the award for most fast-tracked hour long show from the 60s on DVD. I don't know this show. Find my vintage DVDs schedule for Spring 2007: April "The Wild West" season 2 "The Streets of San Francisco" season 1 - volume 1 May "Ironside" season 1 "Banacek" season 1 June "Mission: Impossible" season 2 "Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea" season 3 - volume 1

McHale's Navy was also Revue Studios (Universal) and is out now. "The FBI" was IMO one of the best crime shows ever in its first year, with a perfect blend of "Dragnet" style devotion to procedure and investigation, and a "Naked City" style of humanization in the investigators and the criminals. Alas, this latter part disappeared after the first season and the show became more formula-driven with the FBI agents becoming total ciphers (most likely because of J. Edgar Hoover's insistence that the FBI be seen as a bunch of functioning bureaucrats with no distinctive personalities), so the show isn't as enjoyable after Year 1 for me though it's still entertaining (and the Bronislau Kaper theme is one of the best ever written for a TV show, and some of those great first season episodes have some terrific scores as well). A lot of episodes have been made available on-line in the AOLIN2TV service, and American Life has rerun the series for a number of years. I think the market would be there for a Season 1 release, and that would be a case of a series where if that were the only one done on DVD, I wouldn't be bothered like I am with the lack of anything further on "Adam-12" and "Dragnet". Never saw the show, but have always been interested. As for the 1959 film, The FBI Story, there's that nice finale at the olde Yankee Stadium that you no doubt cherish, Eric...

MGM is also going to be reissuing "Outer Limits" on DVD as well. The weird part is, they're simply reselling the old DVDs. The same prints, same 2 sided discs, same lack of bonus features. And it's a little more expensive. Jeez, I thought Paramount sucked...

The announcement is official on Season 2 of "Rat Patrol" for June 12, and MGM is also going to be reissuing "Outer Limits" on DVD as well. http://www.tvshowsondvd.com/newsitem.cfm?NewsID=7097 Well, one real good news for "The Rat Patrol" and on immediate pre-order but one stupid news: "The Outer Limits". What the hell are they doing? Absurd!

I am very happy that I am not a fan of "WKRP In Cincinnati" because if I were, I'd be very angry over this news concerning the wholesale replacement of music that occurs in the upcoming Season 1 set, coming after fans were led to believe the show's creator would be working hard to see to it this would be kept to a minimum. I am not a fan of that show that I don't know. I pre-ordered the complete season 1 of "Ironside" on DVD and I hope everything will be nice and smooth. I am a little anxious about Shout Factory!. Will the prints be clean? Will it include subtitles or at least, CC?

In the area of music replacement, word is trickling out that the long awaited Season 2 of "Happy Days" (Season 1 came out in 2004) has a lot of music replacement too, with the "Rock Around The Clock" theme replaced by the "Happy Days" theme song that wasn't used in the opening credits until Season 3. Also, much of the period songs used are evidently gone too (they were in Season 1).

Too many laws involved which finally hurt any forms of creation. That's very sad that materialism breed such aftermath.

http://www.tvshowsondvd.com/newsitem.cfm?NewsID=7114 Season 1 of "Gunsmoke" announced for July 17. Seven of these 39 episodes were in the two "Best of" compilations, but it's good to see that the longest running prime time series ever is finally getting this treatment (of course we can probably expect all 20 seasons out by 2050 perhaps!)

Fine, laddie, Marshall Dillon is back! Prepare your six shots!

Those early Gunsmokes are pretty good, I always preferred the 30 minute format- in beautiful black and white. I was too young when they first aired- in fact, I didn't come around til 1956 and only saw them syndicated with the "Marshall Dillon" title in the 1970's. Notice how young they all look when you watch them. Miss Kitty was in her prime. 20 years took it's toll on her.
