With some friends we have had a discussion about visual gags in the background of a scene that have nothing to do with the main action going on (there're a lot of examples in ZAZ's movies).

And I simply couldn't come up with a particular gag I saw it only once many years ago (possibly at the end of the 80's or in the early 90's). Was it a movie ? A TV show ?

Yet, I have the impression it's from that sitcom titled DOCTOR DOCTOR but I'm not sure at all about it :

Two or three people are talking on the foreground while in the background a short man is using a wall phone : but when he wants to hang it, well, he can't. So he's trying many ways to hang that phone, in vain. Meanwhile of course the camera keeps filming on the foreground the guys having a discussion we don't care about at all because we keep focus on that poor guy on the background !

Does it ring a bell to anyone and is there a clip of that on the Internet ?

Thanks in advance !

Edit : And thanks to Adam B. the answer is YOUNG DOCTORS IN LOVE !

Many thanks Adam ! I was even able to locate the videoclip on youtube. It's not Lubitsch's touch, yet effective ! big grin

The scene you were describing was the only one I could really remember from the film. I saw this in 1982 by mistake.

I went to my local theater to see Star Trek II and bought my ticket. When I walked to the doors I must have turned right when I should have turned left because I unintentionally went into the wrong auditorium. When the film started up I was expecting to see the Paramount logo but it was something else and I realized I was in the wrong theater. I decided to stay and watch it anyway because I had already seen Trek II a couple of times. I didn't regret it. There were a few chuckles in the film. It tries to copy some of the gags from the ZAZ films.
