TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 2

CELEBRITY PHOTOS---the FBI and Apple are investigating online nude photos of female celebrities that were apparently hacked from their iCloud accounts. Jennifer Lawrence, Kate Upton, Mary Elizabeth Winstead, Yvonne Strahovski, Ariana Grande, Selena Gomez and others were among the alleged celebrity victims. Jennifer Lawrence's reps confirmed the photos of her in various stages of undress and added, "This is a flagrant violation of privacy. The authorities have been contacted and will prosecute anyone who posts the stolen photos of Jennifer Lawrence."
Mary Elizabeth Winstead also confirmed the nude photos of her are authentic, "To those of you looking at photos I took with my husband years ago in the privacy of our home, hope you feel great about yourselves." She added, "Knowing those photos were deleted long ago, I can only imagine the creepy effort that went into this."
Ariana Grande denied the purported photos are of her, "hell nah.... praying for the people who believed that was me lmaoo... my petite ass is much cuter than that."

THE WALKING DEAD---poster released for Season 5 which premiers on October 12.

24: THE MOVIE---a movie based on the Kiefer Sutherland tv series is being pitched again to 20th Century Fox after the good ratings of the 24: LIVE ANOTHER DAY miniseries. The previous movie was shelved due to budget problems.

MONSTERS: DARK CONTINENT---trailer released for the sequel to the movie that was directed by Gareth Edwards (GODZILLA).

Trailer link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YjVvJeaHBLE

GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY 2---director James Gunn said Ms. Marvel nor any other Earth-based "Earthling" superheroes will be in the sequel so the focus will remain on Star-Lord.

STAR WARS: EPISODE VII---Miltos Yerolemou (GAME OF THRONES) has joined the sequel cast in an apparently minor role.

MOTIVATIONAL GROWTH---horror movie in which a depressed man, after a failed suicide attempt, begins to take advice from mold growing in his filthy bathroom. Jeffrey Combs stars.

Don't put naked photo's on the cloud. Better yet don't take naked photos of yourself. Maybe the Polaroid One-Step 600 Instant Camera will make a come back.

Would you have the same argument if, say, somebody's bank was hacked and their identity was stolen?

I hope if you ever get robbed, the police aren't like, "Jeez, you shouldn't've kept valuables in your home behind such a flimsy lock. Basically just asking for it!"

I concur about the wisdom of storing sensitive material on any networked device, BUT... someone already wrote at succinct length that the true point is there is nothing wrong with what they did, that they had the right to do it and to expect privacy.

24 Movie - I hope the studios have the wisdom to run with it this time. Awash in a sea of me-toos, remakes, reboots, and reimaginings, when a great project comes along, do it.

A bank is secure and most ppl are protected up to $250,000. It is widely known the internet is not secure. Defense firewalls get hacked.

Once your private pics are stolen there's no uncorking the genie. Your just asking for trouble. Did they do anything wrong? Absolutely not. Did they have every right to take nude pics and put them in their cloud? Yes. But use some common sense.

Ariana Grande denied the purported photos are of her, "hell nah.... praying for the people who believed that was me lmaoo... my petite ass is much cuter than that."

Her former co-star Victoria Justice (also targeted) denied it of hers as well.

I have to say people's reactions to this whole affair really make me despair. From open drooling over stolen pictures of innocent women (and men, but mainly women) in the privacy of their own homes or whatever, to people sometimes going out of their way to - let's face it - slut-shame, to folks saying this was done by zelebs (yeah right, like three-time Oscar nominee and one-time winner Jennifer Lawrence is a Z-lister)...

These celebrity "victims" are in the business of being looked at and fawned over.
I doubt they're suffering that much.
In Hollyweird, there's no such thing as bad publicity.

The public perception of cloud storage, on the other hand... big grin

If these people didn't put their nude photos out into the world on their own, it is wrong and there is a reason that it is a crime being investigated. End of story.

To say anything else - inferred or otherwise - is simply admitting one's self to being despicable gutter-trash.

@ Stefancos- Trust me no one wants to see pics of me.

@ CindyLover- These are celebrities and they know they are targets more than anyone else. You have every right to leave your doors unlocked too. But your just inviting a theft.

Well then, I guess that would be me.
But then again, I'm not the one taking nude selfies--which seem to be at cross purposes to the activities of "gutter-trash".

All of a sudden, Jennifer Lawrence has lost her mystique.

I hate to say it, since this dispicable act is just appalling, but Jennifer Lawrence - and a couple of others - could do very well out of this. It's not the first time celeb nude photos have leaked, it's how they handle it that's the thing....I won't see them - I have little interest in doing so (I'd prefer to leave it to the imagination)....but if she and her management handle this correctly she could turn this to her distinct advantage.

This actually played at a horror movie festival in my town. I went back and forth on whether I should see it. I'm suddenly thinking I should.

We all have to be on our guard against the crass commoditization of unwilling parties' sexuality. It's just infuriating.

In an unrelated matter, I'm having a little trouble finding these photos online. Does anyone know where they are? Click my name for email.

The average person has far too much faith in the cloud. I'm as disgusted as most others that nude photos of these people have been stolen and leaked, but to be perfectly honest, I'm surprised this kind of thing doesn't happen more often. After this, I'm sure most celebrities (and a good many others) will think twice about the wisdom of putting sensitive data in any cloud service.

Personally, I wouldn't even upload a text document to the cloud. My desktop has almost 8TB of storage between its internal and external drives, and my phone has 32GB that I can use to carry around most data I want access to on-the-go. I've considered investing in those of those home "cloud"-type hard drives that you can access remotely, but I still haven't had any true need of it, and I'm unsure if the security is much better than a true cloud unless you put it behind a hardware firewall or hardware encrypt its data.

I'm sure McKayla Maroney is thoroughly delighted at the idea of potentially underage pics of hers out there.

In Hollyweird, there's no such thing as bad publicity.

That must be why Roman Polanski has been welcomed back to Hollywood with open arms... oh wait.

I'm not a fan of Emma Watson, but I'm definitely with her on this point: "Even worse than seeing women's privacy violated on social media is reading the accompanying comments that show such a lack of empathy."

Because they are famous, they aren't entitled to any privacy?

Thats the "News Of The World" way of thinking.

Businesses should be taken to task for proclaiming their services are so secure and need to be regulated in their claims. It gives a false sense of security. A "home cloud" is just a server you set up at your home. Again no more secure than anything else. The "cloud" is a wonderful name, it really makes ppl think their is something special or magical about it. I don't think there's really any new technology here.
