Ado: Yeah, thought that was sad too, his dad died at like 54 I think I read. Jim's death was entirely preventable too, as he refused to seek medical help because he was a christian scientist. Yup, the Muppets are outliving them both. Must we remind you: 2) No political or religious discussion. There are countless places online to discuss religion and politics but only a few to discuss film music. Even in the non-film music discussion side of our board, we do not allow religious or political talk. We have found that such threads always (regardless of which “side” you are on) degenerate into fights and acrimony. Obviously there are topics that border on these areas; please use your judgment. If you want to discuss your favorite scores to religious films, that’s fine, just don’t use it to sermonize—and if somebody else does so, report it to us, and don’t take the bait. (These are sensitive topics; please respect that other people may not only have different views, but different sensibilities towards discussing them.)

Re: "Jim's death was entirely preventable" I doubt that Christian Scientists would agree. My quote of the Community Rule stands.

Not to be too disagreeable Ron, but Ado's comment strikes me as a simple statement of fact and not a religious discourse by any but the furthest stretch. I'm not on anybody's side, and I support the rules, but fairness is or should be in the rules as well.

When he wrote that Jim's death was preventable but that it wasn't prevented because he was a Christian Scientist, I felt that that crossed the line ... for at least Christian Scientists. The other day I wrote something about human rights and someone quite active here chastised me for it and quoted the rule I quoted above. There sometimes seems to be a double standard here.

I simply felt that Ado's comment of "Jim's death was entirely preventable too, as he refused to seek medical help because he was a christian scientist" (my emphasis) was bringing religion into the discussion. As for Ado's "The deal is I am a marked man with Ron, he does not like much of what I say, he knows I disagree with him on a wide variety of areas. So now he plays Deputy Fife with me." That "wide variety of areas" consists of a grand total of 2: My discussion about Boyzone and the discussion about an opera version of "Brokeback Mountain," both of which Ado jumped in with negative, even dismissive, comments that led to some heated discussion from me and others.
