Christopher Young as the newly "announced" horror score coming in 2 weeks? That would be cool or any other ideas and hints? smile

"Its looking like we will be coming down to the wire on our final four releases of 2013. We hope to have that awesome box set wrapped up this week along 3 other stellar titles. It's all in the hands of the studios now.

In the meantime, this Tuesday we have two great releases coming out - Day of the Dead and Black Beauty along with a great sale on our horror titles.

Oct 22 originally was supposed to be Grimm and another Elfman title, but we recently got an unexpected quick sign off on a great horror title that we should unleash before Halloween. So, that title will be released instead of the Eflman. It's a classic from one of the modern day greats!

That Elfman title has been bumped to Nov 5 where it might share the release date with another title or two...or perhaps nothing if we don't have any sign offs soon. lol

Since we are gearing up for our final four it looks like we will be skipping Nov 19 and just heading toward our finish line for 2013 with our Black Friday titles. As specified above, we have no idea what they will be. I will say this -- we have a pool of 10 titles to choose from -- what doesn't make the cut in 2013 will certainly make for one hell of a 1st quarter 2014! wink"

La-La Land Records and Taurus Entertainment present the remixed, remastered and expanded 2-CD release of composer John Harrison’s original motion picture score to George A. Romero’s 1985 genre classic DAY OF THE DEAD, starring Lori Cardille, Terry Alexander, Joe Pilato, Richard Liberty and Howard Sherman, and written/directed by George A. Romero. Composer Harrison’s driving synth score expertly propels the living dead, while also supporting the main characters’ emotional and dramatic journeys. Unexpected, but highly effective reggae-like tones and melodic motifs add a unique personality to this beloved genre score. Produced by John Harrison and Ford A. Thaxton, remixed by Michael Farrow and mastered by James Nelson, this deluxe edition of DAY OF THE DEAD, limited to 3000 units, features the film version of the score on Disc One, and the remastered original 1985 soundtrack cues on Disc Two. Exclusive, in-depth liner notes from film music writer Jeff Bond, composer John Harrison and writer/director George A. Romero round out the delightfully ghoulish art design by Mark Banning.

In addition to Black Beauty, it looks like I'll be picking up Texas Chainsaw Massacre, Seed of Chucky, Undead, and some selection of the others, depending on how I like their samples - almost certainly The Conjuring. My $$$ just keep flying away!!!

As always, I can't recommend Evil Dead enough, especially for $10, but also for full price, if you're a horror music fan.

Seed of Chucky, The Howling and Wrong Turn 2 are marvelous scores, highly recommended. While I'm the first to admit that it's not for everyone, Spellbinder is a perfect score to listen to around this time of year and for five bucks, you could do much worse.

Despite the (cruelly dismissive) review at FSM Online, Willard is fantastic; certainly worth full price, but it's nice that it's on sale. I just might pick up Evil Dead and The Hole, more for curiosity than having seen the films.

And last but not least…

Da Vinci’s Demons Collector’s Edition 2 cd set
Music by Bear McCreary
Retail Price: $21.98

360 SIGNED UNITS ONLY

Bear McCreary’s sweeping orchestral score for Da Vinci's Demons, featuring the Emmy® Award-winning Main Title Theme, was meticulously researched to accurately represent the time period, without being bound to it. The score combines orchestra, Renaissance instrumentation, choir and ethnic soloists with the renowned Calder Quartet and surging contemporary synthesis. “For Da Vinci's Demons, I looked to the real-life Leonardo for inspiration. He famously wrote backwards and forwards, so I decided to write music for him in the same way," said McCreary. "I wanted to write the Main Theme as a musical palindrome, so it sounds the same whether played forwards or backwards. The challenge was to balance that intellectual idea with the dramatic needs of the story. I think the end result works beautifully and would make Da Vinci proud." This Collector's Edition double CD features 12 bonus tracks not available on the digital album.

Like the previous Europa Report release, La-La Land Records has been allotted 360 composer signed copies of this 2 cd set. Once they are sold out, they are gone for good from La-La Land Records.

Regular, unsigned editions can be purchased at www.amazon.com

I own the Varese of Pet Semetary and haven't listened to it in years. Not sure why. Maybe just a forgotten gem? Anyway, I'll give it a listen and see if I'm tempted to upgrade to the LLL version next week. My wallet is pretty unhappy with me this month so far...

Whoa, whadda curve ball, PET SEMATARY!??!?! I thought there was like 4mins. missing,
but this doubles the run time!??! So much for one of those Varese Perpetuity titles!

Nice tie in to SALEMS LOT, both will be mine! PET is a long fave of mine, one of the last
flicks I saw in the drive in. EG in strings, piano & synths mode, I don't think there is even any
brass on this score - I've heard it far too much to remember. Way to go, and thanks for
the semi-early announcement, makes it easier to order.

In perpetuity means Varese still holds the rights and you can't do a CD of it. Obviously in this case they didn't hold onto the rights, or they lost them. Unless they've started to sell (or however it works) rights to labels now, behind the scenes.

Yes, please do! Love Bernstein's score and a remaster would be most welcome even if there isn't any more music to release.

My favorite Goldenthal score. Yes, despite being influenced by Schifrin´s "Amityville Horror".

And 30 minutes more? Brilliant. "Pet Sematary" has one of the most moving and haunting themes for any horror movie ever. Ordered, together with "Grimm"!
