La-La Land Records and Taurus Entertainment present the remixed, remastered and expanded 2-CD release of composer John Harrison’s original motion picture score to George A. Romero’s 1985 genre classic DAY OF THE DEAD, starring Lori Cardille, Terry Alexander, Joe Pilato, Richard Liberty and Howard Sherman, and written/directed by George A. Romero. Composer Harrison’s driving synth score expertly propels the living dead, while also supporting the main characters’ emotional and dramatic journeys. Unexpected, but highly effective reggae-like tones and melodic motifs add a unique personality to this beloved genre score. Produced by John Harrison and Ford A. Thaxton, remixed by Michael Farrow and mastered by James Nelson, this deluxe edition of DAY OF THE DEAD, limited to 3000 units, features the film version of the score on Disc One, and the remastered original 1985 soundtrack cues on Disc Two. In addition to Black Beauty, it looks like I'll be picking up Texas Chainsaw Massacre, Seed of Chucky, Undead, and some selection of the others, depending on how I like their samples - almost certainly The Conjuring. My $$$ just keep flying away!!!
As always, I can't recommend Evil Dead enough, especially for $10, but also for full price, if you're a horror music fan.

The score combines orchestra, Renaissance instrumentation, choir and ethnic soloists with the renowned Calder Quartet and surging contemporary synthesis. “For Da Vinci's Demons, I looked to the real-life Leonardo for inspiration. He famously wrote backwards and forwards, so I decided to write music for him in the same way," said McCreary. "I wanted to write the Main Theme as a musical palindrome, so it sounds the same whether played forwards or backwards. The challenge was to balance that intellectual idea with the dramatic needs of the story. I think the end result works beautifully and would make Da Vinci proud." but this doubles the run time!??! So much for one of those Varese Perpetuity titles!
Nice tie in to SALEMS LOT, both will be mine! PET is a long fave of mine, one of the last
flicks I saw in the drive in. EG in strings, piano & synths mode, I don't think there is even any
brass on this score - I've heard it far too much to remember. Way to go, and thanks for
the semi-early announcement, makes it easier to order.

My favorite Goldenthal score. Yes, despite being influenced by Schifrin´s "Amityville Horror".
And 30 minutes more? Brilliant. "Pet Sematary" has one of the most moving and haunting themes for any horror movie ever. Ordered, together with "Grimm"!
