im wondering if one of those Elfman scores being released is an expanded DARKMAN..

it should coincide with a new Blu-ray from Shout Factory

Is there enough unreleased score for DARKMAN to warrant an expanded release, though?

How about expanded Black Beauty and Sommersby scores for the 2 Elfmans? Both WB titles and long out of print.

Eight discs?

Could it be a Batman box set of some sort... expanded soundtracks for the Nolan trilogy, or a set of the Burton / Schumacher scores (featuring the existing six discs from Batman, Batman Returns and Batman Forever, and a new two-disc Batman & Robin)?

Very unlikely.
And what will do all of us, who already own separate editions of first 3 parts? Pay $120 for Batman & Robin - this will be very high price for one score...

I agree, but I'm struggling to think of a set that would require eight discs, and justify that sort of price tag.

I don't doubt that, if it was a set of Burton/Schumacher Batman scores, that Batman & Robin would also be available separately.

I'm dreaming now, but how about...

Disc 1: The Man with the Golden Gun
Disc 2: The Spy Who Loved Me
Disc 3: Octopussy
Disc 4: A View to a Kill
Disc 5: Tomorrow Never Dies
Disc 6: The World Is Not Enough
Disc 7: Die Another Day, Pt. 1
Disc 8: Die Another Day, Pt. 2

All complete or near complete, naturally. Licence to Kill to be released separately at a later date. big grin

But seriously, I have no idea what the 8-disc set could be. Can't wait to find out though.

I'd love it to be a Nolan/Batman set. If they included the OST as well for each score (since these were mostly suites) then I suppose it could make 8 discs for the three films. DK & DKR would probably require 3 discs each.

I'd certainly buy it but I believe MV said that it wasn't something which was available from Warners, but that was a while ago and things could have changed.

But yes, if its a set of "recent" film scores then I'm struggling to see what would need 8 discs.

I wish its Young Indiana Jones Chronicles Box set. Or it could be some 7 part series with a bonus 8th disc.

The main scores I'd love to see are a Lethal Weapon set, expanded Con Air, expanded bond scores from La La would be sweet, Smallville volume 2 - PLEEEASE!!!

BTW is there word on Matrix Revolutions??

Harry Potter 1-3 could fill 8 discs....

Unfortunately the licenses for those probably haven't been sorted out yet.

8 discs? Got to be the Ultimate Soundtrack for The Birds featuring the complete score, the original soundtrack re-recording, all the out-takes, plus the special bonus disc of 'interpretations of the main title'.....

OR it could be the Star Wars Prequel Trilogy fully expanded....

(runs for cover)...

I'll just say this -- we do have a box set planned for release. It's gonna be 8 cds

We've known about this for awhile. Anyone care to speculate? A movie series? A television series? One composer? A compilation? Maybe we can get another hint?

---------
How about:

John Barry- The Lost Recordings

Sinful Davey-rejected
Mister Moses
The Betsy
Raise The Titanic (original tracks in stereo)
Walkabout (original tracks in stereo)
Goodbye Lover-rejected
Year Of The Comet-rejected
Seance On A Wet Afternoon (original tracks in stereo)
The Man With The Golden Gun (complete)
Moonraker (complete)
Octopussy (complete)
A View To A Kill (complete)
The Little Prince and the Aviator (promo)

Now it makes sense. After Herrmann turned in his 400+ minutes of score for The Birds for consideration, Hitchcock threw up his hands and said, "**** it, the movie will have no music."

In my dreams: Complete Indiana Jones Movie collection. That would fit.

Paramount Owns the scores, not Lucas right?

Just remembered, an earlier post pointed out that the set is a WB entity.

I don't think so. The Indiana Jones: The Soundtracks Collection clearly states "tm, (r) & (c) Lucasfilm." Paramount only distributed the films.

Just to confirm, is it 'two releases of new Elfman scores' or 'two new releases of Elfman scores'?

On SEPT 24 we will see two great releases from two of Hollywood's greatest composers.

I am more curious about this... perhaps another JW, JG or finally more from JH?
Since it was confirmed there is no MB on the way, these three might fit... unless it will be one of the golden age composers, which would be great too... I guess we'll know later today...

We know one of 'em's from the 50's/60's.

MV, when do we get some 50's and 60's scores coming our way from your label. SHANE was my favorite purchase from any label in 2012.

Sure do -- got one of them coming on Sept 24!

Nothing new coming from Elfman (I checked IMDB), so I would guess they're both re-releases. I'm hoping one is either Beetlejuice or Edward Scissorhands.

The 8 disc set would have to be a pretty big film franchise for me to pull the trigger. (Dark Knight, Rocky, SW, Indy, etc..) I'm guessing it's a tv show or composer set of some kind.

Pretty sure a title of the Elfman's it is "Sommersby". Just take notice it's perfect timing (Autumn, Warner Bros anniversary) and it's a Elektra release (like "The Fugitive").

Here is hoping "Police Academy" is coming soon.
