This is everything that appears to be missing from the LLL Mars Attacks! release: Newspapers (0:15) White House Walk (0:20) White House Discussion (1:16) The Landing (missing sections) (2:37) [full version is about 8:39, this version is 6:02] Barbara and Art (0:16) Martian Response (0:32) State Address (missing sections) (1:17) [full version is 4:20, this version is 3:03] Instructions (0:46) Martian Lounge (missing end) (0:40) [full version is 3:33, this version is 2:53] Paris Burning (1:00) The Big Launch (missing sections) (0:25) [full version is 3:07, this version is 2:42] Pursuit (missing sections) (0:49) [full version is 3:45, this version is 2:56] The War Room (missing sections) (0:41) [full version is 2:12, this version is 1:31] That's 9 minutes of music! ... Also, I am not able to find the last seconds of the Main Titles. Why did La La-Land cut out, too, the sound of the organ? Other “unnecessary” seconds of music? (Luckily I have the Red Planet CD.)

One thing worth mentioning for those on the fence about this one - much of the best material in the score was left of the original OST, which had some of the worst cue selection I've yet seen for an Elfman score. With a few exceptions, I'd almost be tempted to say that you could construct a better album entirely from the music that was left off of the original OST. Those of you who liked the main theme but didn't care much for the rest of the album - much of the new material is comprised of awesome grandstanding variations on that main theme. If there's some kernel of the music that you like, the odds are that La La Land's new expanded edition will present a much much better listening experience. Pedestrian Wolf Your post has made me more interested. I borrowed the MA soundtrack from a friend on original release, and found it fairly dull after the amazing opening theme. By 'punctuating' the score in the way you suggest, with reprises (and great ones by the sound of it, it's been a while) of that theme, it could work much better. I'm reminded of the last expanded GDM release of The Good, the Bad and the Ugly, which turned a dull score book-ended with three of the greatest movie tracks of all time, into many times a more satisfying listen. Those excellent theme reprises help make the existing tracks come across better both in their own right, as well stopping several theme reprises otherwise appearing repetitive. Even with the potentially jarring effect of the mix of stereo/mono tracks, it's SO much better all-round. I reckon you've done me a favor. Thanks!
