Everybody knows North To Alaska has one the mightiest songs ever, it's common knowledge! I don't know how much it has to do with Friedhofer though?

With all the end of year cd releases the Frederick Hollander cd has been neglected.

We have very little from this fine composer who had a gift for melody. All I can think of is the theme from Sabrina on the Gerhardt cd and The Verdict 16 mins. from the excellent Film Noir cd by Morgan/Stromberg on BMG Germany issued in 1996.

Bruce, is the Hollander one or two cds? Besides Sabrina and We're No Angels, what are the other scores?

This Hollander cd is long overdue. Thanks! smile

Yes, very pleasing to get some Hollander. I hope sales don't take too big a hit because of the huge amount of competition during December. Fingers crossed sales will be strong enough to encourage further Hollander releases.

Intriguing! I really, really enjoyed Hollander's 5000 Fingers score. Another interesting and unexpected release by Brewster McKritz.

Re-releases are fine by me unless they mix old and new. I'm happy for those people who missed Comancheros and North to Alaska who can now get them.
But I'd be less happy if the third score on the set is something never-before-available and to get it I have to buy the other two scores again (especially with one being North to Alaska which is one of my all-time most disliked westerns and scores).

You mean just like TAPS/ONLY GAME IN TOWN?

Several other scores, all of which are mentioned in the release blurb which will be up first thing in the morning. One CD.

Got my The Only Game In Town in today's morning mail and I've listened to it 4 times already! Definitely one of the high points in Jarre's scoring career.

I tried to get through Taps and it isn't bad but not my cup of tea. Maybe if I'd actually seen the film I'd have appreciated it more. I'll try listening to it again after the novelty of finally owning Only Game In Town after all these years finally wears off!

Put in a Screen Archives order this morning and saw that Taps/Only Game In Town is going for $9.95 so I added it to my batch. Meant to pick this one up some time ago. I'm surprised it's still around. Anyway, pleased to pick it up for half price.
