I've never been huge on Elfman's editing of his own cues (see Dolores Claiborne and his Mission: Impossible score, where the longer version of the "Zoom B" cue is on the song album, but not the score album?)

Shaun, thanks for the tip. I just got me the soundtrack album of M:I for that slight extension (by the way, there's also a very short segment in the first Elfman track that's not on the score album), and will be happily editing it into the score.

Battlestar Galactica: Season 4 is LLL's 100th release per it's Amazon listing.

Splendid. I too had expected it to be something else, but it's therefore not less exciting or special.

To us BSG is special. It's our flagship and this 2 disc set is going to be one hell of a swan song for Bear's music!

MV, since your 100th release is already up for sale on amazon.com, does that mean you can now announce what #97 and #99 are? (I assume Mars Attacks and 28 Weeks Later are #95 and #96, and we know Caprica is #98)

Mars is #96 and 28 Weeks is #97

#95 is a limited editon of 3,000 units -- a title that has been requested more than once on this board.

#99 is a limited edition of 1,200 units. A title that may not have been oft requested but is certainly a . . . well, let's face it -- it's an intriguing release. LOL

You know, it's always interesting to see how people are annoyed by these threads getting into the "Thor's listening preferences" ordeal, blaming ME for it, yet it is their own fault for making it so.

No, it is your fault because you can't stay away from these threads.

Here is another solution.
Create a "Thor's listening preferences"-thread and when ever there is a release you don't agree with post your opinion there.

And let's see if anyone comes by to talk to you.

Who are you to say what I should stay away from or not? I will post my opinions on what I damn well please (within board policies, of course). If people don't like that, well that's their problem. If a topic has any relevance to me (which this does, as I'm a big Elfman fan), I'll post my thoughts in it. And I will continue to post my thoughts in every single thread about new C&C-presented scores, as long as those scores or composers have any relevance to me, predictable as they may be.

All I can say is: If you don't want a "Thor preferences" thread, well then don't make it into one! Easy as that.

I said my piece on this MARS ATTACKS release in my very first post here, and I would have been perfectly happy in leaving it at that. The rest of my replies in this thread have been to childish personal attacks from people with zero tolerance of differing tastes and preferences.

and arent you -at least- a little curious for some unreleased music you've never heard from your "second favourite film composer", Thory?

Nope. Thory trusts Warner music producers and their selection and doesn't trust Lalaland producers because producers producing 70+ minutes scores can't be trusted!!!

Actually, I have already heard most of the unreleased cues. I got them from someone who got it from the iso score several years ago. It's in a folder or CD-R somewhere. There was nothing there that would have added to the existing album experience, IMO. In fact, most of it would have deteriorated it further, except maybe bits of the Americana music underscoring the President's final speech.

If you had had any serious interest in discussing this with me in an adult manner rather than just bully people who don't share your soundtrack view, you would have noticed that the "length" thing is not an issue. But other than that, you're right.

The irony of this debate is that this MARS ATTACKS! isn't even a complete and chronological release. Mr. Gerhard has already indicated that he's kept some of the smaller edits, snipped some of shorter cues, and arranged the tracks out of chronological order for a better listening experience. He's just done so using more "raw material" from the complete score. Isn't this exactly what you always claim you want, Thor? Have you just turned your back on the one label that was on your side? ;-)

It's not radical enough, IMO. Also, I have always liked LaLaLand for their title selections, which are up my alley (80's and 90's stuff), but never hidden my distaste for their C&C presentation ideology. This goes for all specialty labels that subscribe to this.

70+ minutes are 70+ minutes. More music means less partying and beer drinking, Thor is not pleased with microedits.

LOL. No clue here. It's an interesting score with a fascinating history.

And yes, those two will be out before our 100th on July 21st.

Wow, you are posting your crap in a thread started by LaLaLand and you want to be treated like an adult ??
