Now I am in a very relaxed mood listening to Michel Legrand's score to THE THOMAS CROWN AFFAIR.

As am I. Has anyone cracked the first clew?

SAME QUESTION.

You can talk all you want about glutting the marketplace but I just crunched our numbers for the first half of 2014 and it's the most we have ever made in our 12 year history from January 1 to June 30. I was shocked, but it made sense when I looked at the sales.

While we didn't have a mammoth size hit like previous years (i.e. Star Trek The Motion Picture, ID4, or Hook), we had several home runs...and those home runs helped sell some of the smaller releases.

It's all about the titles.

For every Empire of the Sun, It's a Wonderful Life and Young Sherlock Holmes a company releases it helps pay for smaller projects like D.A.R.Y.L. and Judith that didn't sell a boatload of copies.

There is nothing wrong with variety in the marketplace. A customer doesn't have to buy everything that comes out. That's just plain silly. Pick and choose and get what you want. If you are worried about something selling out, then prioritize and buy the items that you know are limited.

Also, keep in mind some times things are beyond the labels' control. For instance, we only have 2 releases in July, but most likely 5 in August. Projects get delayed for a variety of reasons...most of which is beyond the labels control. None of us are made of money and we need to start recouping a project's cost as soon as possible.

In other words -- SHIT HAPPENS.

Happy 4th, everyone! smile

Glad I could contribute to those sales good buddy!

I think they would have posted about it. You could check the Intrada forum:

I guess asking is one way to keep the thread bumped up, but we'll know shortly anyway.

Really? Seriously? People are objecting because there is one extra disc being released this month? I'd hardly call that glutting the marketplace. Personally, I'm glad there is such a range of things still being released by all of these labels.

People? I only see one person complaining.

"The second features two obscure scores by a man who could easily go from jazz to big orchestral force and dissonance. One is a rejected score and the other is a documentary. Good luck with this one."
And what about Don Ellis?

Looks like Demon/God Told Me To is a pretty safe bet for the first one since it famously was released under both titles and was Cordell's last score. But would this really be a premiere since there is an LP version that is backed with Ring of Bright Water?

the LP is a re-recording. An OST release would be a premiere.

That suite was a re-recording. This would be the premiere of the original film tracks.

I really hope that it's God Told Me To.

When are these normally released ?

if you mean what time of day, looks like it varies (California time), assuming this is where they're announced:

Titles are up guys...

Friedhofer: Die Sister, Die! http://store.intrada.com/s.nl/it.A/id.8875/.f?sc=13&category=22848
Baxter: House of Usher http://store.intrada.com/s.nl/it.A/id.8874/.f?sc=13&category=22848
North: Sounder / Decision for Chemisty http://store.intrada.com/s.nl/it.A/id.8873/.f?sc=13&category=22848

Don't think anyone guessed the North titles... this must be the first soundtrack release featuring the Monsanto Chemical Company as the studio!

Justin Boggan guessed "Sounder":

Aside from the famous 2001 incident, did Alex North ever have a score rejected?
LLLR just release one not too long ago, and then there is of course these:
"Sounder"
"Cattle Annie and the Little Britches"
"Distant Drums" (reportedly not fully recorded, so it could possible fit with a short documentary score)

I stand corrected. Sorry, Justin!

Ididn't guess it. somebody asked if North had any other rejected scores aside from 2001, and both Ford and I chimed in with a list (mine more complete). We listed, but not guessed.
