Listened to the whole disc. As I said earlier, the Newman is terrific, but I'm also mightily impressed with the Mockridge score. Superb.
Anyone hesitating over getting this should hesitate no longer. You'll be rewarded with sumptuous Newman and Mockridge scores, both in remarkably fine sound.
Question. Is the title for track 12 correct?
It's listed as: "Love's Dream After the Ball" which sounds a bit odd.
Should it be two titles, as in: Love's Dream / After the Ball

Believe me, I thoroughly love the score to O. HENRY'S FULL HOUSE so don't take this as a complaint in any way. If I remember correctly the first story in the film is"The Cop and the Anthem" with Charles Laughton not "The Last Leaf". The sequencing on the disc has "The Last Leaf" coming first. Remember I am only asking for a comment. This is NOT a complaint. I am so glad to have this in my collection.
Sequencing is everything in terms of Kritzerland releases. All about what presents best, and we all felt that leading with the score for which there was the most music was the way to go - and it's also the score that has the most classic Newman music. That simple.

I love questions, and knew you weren't complaining. Always feel free to ask - I love putting together CDs, although the sequencing for this one was pretty much Mike Matessino all the way.

That's the title - Love's Dream After the Ball
I just watched O. Henry's "The Clarion Call" on Youtube.
The scene with "Love's Dream After the Ball" is actually the opposite of a love scene – it's some low level background source accompanying a sneering villain, Richard Widmark, sitting at an eatery table and telling cop Dale Robertson "I'm sick of seeing your face, Barney".
Anyway, if others are unfamiliar with the piece and make the same mistake as me (in assuming it's a Newman composition), the music is by the Hungarian composer Alfons Czibulka (1842-1894) and it's his Op.356.
We put it on the CD at the last minute, because people here were going on and on about wanting it.
