I ordered Abyss and Nemesis start of this week from SAE, I think had I pre-ordered it last month, I'd be going crazy too. I hope it will get to you soon!

I never received shipping notification I had to email Varèse orders(at)varesesarabande.com and Todd replied with tracking confirmation.

I love this release along with Nemesis. I ended up re-recreating the exact film version of "Sub Battle". Although I think my edits are a bit tighter than what's heard in the film.

I've used my film version edit for "Sub Battle" for my iPod.

The idea of editing with actual tape like back in the day baffles me. smile

The sound quality on the new release is freaking fantastic! Makes the OST sound like it was underwater by comparison smile

What Jason said, this one blows the old release out of the water, literally.

The sound is indeed greatly improved. Plus there's a lot more music from my favorite period in Silvestri's career.

The content and sound is improved SO much that I might break with tradition and dump the older CD, despite the unique edits. This new disc represents Silvestri's original vision in an astonishing way and I can't imagine ever spinning that other disc again.

I'm loving this score more than I ever have!

It's always $5 cheaper from Varese. They don't offer any mark down to other retailers like Intrada, SAE etc, so they whack the extra on to make a profit. It's just they way things are with Varese.

Got my copy yesterday, and I'm finally getting to listen to it. This score was high on my hopefuls list for expansion. I absolutely love how vastly different the full score is to the original album release. It's a whole different listening experience for sure, and the sound quality is fantastic. I am grateful to Varese Sarabande for releasing this gem of Silvestri's.

THE ABYSS was never high on my list of score favorites. I rarely listened to the CD because for some reason it never "grabbed" me. Now I see why. The original CD was wholly inadequate.
This new expanded version is a completely different experience and raises the score (as music listening) way up in my estimation. It sounds terrific! Great job,Varese.

This is a perfect example of why some scores benefit greatly from expansion (not all do).

After hearing all of this new presentation, I can never listen to the original album version again. It's almost a slap to the face of the composer in just how much material was left out of the original album version (Am I glad times have changed!). It's a fantastic listening experience that has far exceeded my own expectations. My opinion, The Abyss is one of Silvestri's best and one of my favorite purchases of late.

This is shockingly good. The OST does this score no favors at all. Hate to throw the word "masterpiece" around. This is absolutely Silverstri's best. Thrilled to have the expansion.

Received my copy on Friday. It's a wonderful production and I'm so glad to have this (and Intrada's Cocoon) back in my collection after so many years. Cool "ocean blue" coloring on the discs as well. Thanks to the good people at Varese for this.
