Let nothing you dismay... This release is about the Williams score.

"Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas" would have required a separate and cost prohibitive license, not to mention pushing the release to a second disc.

"Jingle Bells" is separate because it's not a carol. The others are (6 of them, I think).

Kevin screaming around the house was not by Williams; it was a riff on "Long Tall Sally" by Johnny Lyon. The "blip of music" you refer to is also not Williams. Cue sheet says "Trade Center" by Tom Elliot. Did that come up in your 'full score study?' We didn't have these anyway.

Mike

Thanks again mike! No, I couldn't find ANY information on these at all. If I had the conductors score I would have been able to figure that out but I just went by what I heard, what was on the album, and what was in the film.

I'm sad about Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas but the main version is on the album and the other pretty cleanly rips form the Blu Ray. :-p

And nice to hear there will be 7 minutes of Williams orchestrated Carols! I'm excited about that! Hehehe

Thanks

These are great releases! "Batman Returns" has been one of my all time favorites for years, so it will be great to hear it anew.

My kids are singing "Somewhere in My Memory" for their school's Christmas program in a few weeks. Why isn't their performance on your CD?

It will be offered as a bonus disc in case Home Alone doesn't ship on November 30th..... wink

I'm both excited and dismayed by this release. I mean, I LOVE home alone. I did a full score study to find all the music and i can see certain things got left off.

The "soundtrack" material I don't care so much about. That stuff is on the Home Alone: Christmas Album.

I mean some of the other music. I can see the "Clothesline Trapese" insert is there which is good, and the "Christmas Carol Medley" I'm guessing is the Airport source music although "Jingle Bells" is listed separately so I dunno how it could be 7 minutes without that lol...

The Film version and album versions of "Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas" are absent. Liscencing problems I suppose?

I was under the impression that the music that played as Kevin ran around screaming in the house was something Williams composed as well. That's not on the set.

And I'm guessing this isn't going to be presenting the film take of "Star of Bethlehem?"

Also, the blip of music for "Angels with Filthy Souls" is missing...

Overall a great release, sad these couldn't be included. I'm guessing they wouldn't have fit on the CD anyway.

wow quit your complaining dude.

I wish people would read my posts. It clearly says at the bottom that Its a great release and I'm excited for it. I just was posting in hopes my questions could be answered. Is that such a bad thing?

between Family Plot, Star Trek V, and Home Alone i'm gonna be so broke! lol...

Or maybe I'll just put it on my Christmas list :-p

This has been a great year for film score releases!

Re-evaluating Home Alone, I find that the only missing things are the film mix of "Star of Bethlehem" which differs by only a horribly out of place glockenspiel, "Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas" which the long version is on the album, two small moments which Mike has said aren't Williams anyway... and that's it... Not to mention the always wonderful read of a Mike Matessino booklet. Very well done!

If we look back at 2010 we just might see that as the Year of the Holy Grail. Seriously- for me, more than a few of my personal holy grails were released and I'm loving it!

Man our guesses with Die Hard were so wrong. Maybe we might see it next year who knows. Either way La-La Land you guys have been great this year!

Guessing aside, didn't LLL specifically indicate that we'd be getting a Michael Kamen release from them before year's end? I'm rather disappointed that that didn't pan out. frown

I'm still thrilled about Batman Returns and especially Star Trek 5 though. Thanks LLL!
