And if it is by any chance the same suite as on the Black Hole/Howard the Duck b**t (the length seems to match) ?

BSX sure didn't pull any punches with this one. STARCRASH is an outstanding score, one of my favorites by the maestro, and the sound quality of this release is superb. There are some great shots inside the booklet and on the back cover (one of which reminds me of a classic Eddie Murphy line: "Have a Coke and a smile and shut the fu@< up!" big grin). As MikeJ noted, the illustrations are fantastic, especially the one behind the CD tray...bottoms up! wink

Can you tell us what that 7 minute bonus suite made up of?
Thanks.

It's basically an extended concert arrangement of the main theme, but played at a slower tempo, which gives it a more lush, romantic feel. A beautiful way to the close out the album, and I'm really glad BSX decided to include in on this CD.

And to answer Dorian's question, yes, it's the same suite.

Thanks. I'll pick this up while there is still some left.
Regarding the suite, do you you know if it is from Barry's original recording sessions or from some other unknown source?

I'm not sure, to be honest. Anyone?

Mine shipped on Saturday and the USPS got it transcon and into my box on Monday morning.

Great album. I had always enjoyed the "suite" on the Black Hole unmentionable, and it's nice to hear more from the score.

Just got this out of the mailbox and spinning it now. Who says BSX isn't on top of things? I've never had a problem with them ever.

How does it sound compared to the old Silva release?

You know they didn't start shipping this title out until last week, right?

It says in the press release...

starts shipping November 24th...

Today is Monday, barely a week later.

In all fairness to Intrada, who remain the Gold Balls standard for customer friendly service and delivery in all of this, how can they deliver it to you until they receive it from BSX?

If I got mine from BSX today, Intrada probably did too.

I did NOT mean to infer it was Intrada's fault, just that I was still waiting. All I remember is that it was shipping from BSX starting on 11/24.

It's all BSX's fault, they should've anticipated my Intrada order. wink

Today is December 2. Let's both count on two hands, shall we? Let's see- 8 days.... hmmm, could be some reason for delay.... hmmmm.

If nobody beats me to it, I'll post a side-by-side comparison when I get my copy.

Cheers

Got mine on Wednesday and am happy as a four eyed dog on the planet Tusca with the bone of a winged Tusca bat.

Great stuff. I agree with the poster that said this music is so not worthy of the film it is in. But it made me remember of how there was a time when Hollywood had a completely different approach to film music. Every film got a complete score.

*sigh*

Not received my copy yet.

Admittedly I did not order a copy but I am disgusted all the same at this poor level of service.

What's your favourite of the various Star Crash covers?

Mine's the French one:

At least the art actually resembles what's in the movie and doesn't shamelessly knock off the Millennium Falcon!

But then again - I do love the cover BSX have used too!

Cheers
