A poster at another board is wonder if the "harshness" is gone or at least severely reduced in the new TBM. He's waiting for people to speak up but is worried it will sell out before hand. Can anybody who worked on it comment?

I own the Intrada release and prior to that had the Sony release. I listened to the LLL clips through my stereo system and concluded that, while there was a slight improvement apparent, it wasn't worth a re-purchase (yes, yes I know mp3s aren't probably fully representative of the sound of the disk).

Both the LLL and Intrada release are substantially improvements on the Sony release, but the score still sounds a bit on the shrill side to my ears. There's probably only so much that can be done given the age of this score and the condition of the tapes. We'll probably have to wait for the score to be re-recorded to have it in truly ideal sound quality.

Chris.

Chris... see my comments a few posts above! The shrill sound is gone and the bass is more prominent. Even the pinched sound which was profound in Intrada version is gone. La La Lands re master is definitive and final. So bury your fears. This is the one to keep. The re recording when it happens will be another great thing.

The isolated score on the blu-ray sounds magnificent. If the LLL sounds as good as that, then consider me impressed

The Sony is about to be tossed from my collection. I wonder if my prized Varese can finally be tossed too...?.

Until they release the hi-res master they now have sitting there. Another four years?
In the meantime, I've listened to several tracks of the new LLL that arrived yesterday... if it's all as good as what I've heard so far, it's a definite and worthwhile improvement over the Intrada.

Received my unsigned MR today... even though the shipping is overpriced, at least the packaging is good. I don't think I've ever seen two albums so protected. Just wish it was protecting a signed copy....

At least you got yours. I'm anxiously awaiting my copy though I do understand it will take a wee bit longer living in Canada and what with customs...

I wasn't able to snatch a signed copy but I did get Davis' signature on Reloaded so I cannot complain.

Looking forward to it arriving. LLL actually is pretty quick at sending stuff. For whatever reason, Intrada shipments take quite a bit longer to get here. Not sure why..

It's nice to hear high quality versions of The Matrix, Matrix Reloaded, and Matrix Revolutions. My only question is does anyone have the complete suite Don Davis did for "Final Flight of the Osiris" or did I miss a release?

Paying $42.50 to receive a limited edition with an obliterated jewel case isn't pleasing. When I've ordered 2 or more cds recently they've been well protected in bubble wrap and arrive in great condition. However if you order 1 cd you get no extra bubble wrap and damage seems inevitable. 2 weeks ago was a damaged signed booklet and now an obliterated jewel case. This just sucks, especially as the P+P has even gone up an extra dollar recently. So I paid $10 P+P a couple of weeks ago and $12.50 last week to receive 1 album each time, both arrived with damage. Whereas if I had bought them together I would have paid $15 and they would likely have had extra bubble wrap and both arrived undamaged. Please LLL put a small piece of bubble wrap around your single album orders to give them a chance.

I received Reloaded and Revolutions today (lightning fast shipping as always) and so far have listened to Revolutions, great presentation! I need to revisit the movies as I haven't seen them since the theater runs. Is it me or is some of the more hectic playing at times deliberately 'messy' almost for the sake of making things extra loud and busy? big grin Still, a nice pair of scores!

Good News:

- Picked up Revolutions.
- Met Don Davis.
- He signed Reloaded, Revolutions and Star Trek TNG vol. 1, as well as the booklet from the Ultimate Matrix Blu-ray box set.

big grin

Bad news:
- I missed the boat on The Matrix Deluxe Edition. frown

Still, I'm a very happy camper. smile

On Reloaded and Revolutions: Superb releases. Thanks LLLR !!!

Thanks everyone for the comments on The Blue Max. I also have a question on the Matrix Revolutions release. I'm fairly satisfied with the single disk release of this score. Is there that much worthwhile missing music that wasn't on the original disk? I do like these scores but find that the complete Reloaded has a fair amount of filler... is this also the case with Revolutions?

Thanks

Chris.

I will join in the praise for the sound on this new issue; it is superb.
But one thing seems off to me. On the Intrada version First Blood/First Victory it starts off with a swaggering little march. That seems to be missing in First Blood track on La La Land's version. Was it put someplace else?

Nothing is missing. See here, this should clear everything up:

Jason, thanks for replying, but I am unable to get into Google. Can I find the answer someplace else?

And just to clarify, I was talking about track 4 of La La Land's first disc above.
The music is there on track 4 of the second disc.
I hope I'm not being too confusing. Again thanks for your help.

From what I can read on the spreadsheet, the LLLR release contains the film version of "First Blood" on disc one, never before released.

The track "First Blood" on the OST (disc 2, track 4 on LLLR) is the same as "First Blood/First Victory" on the Intrada release (track 5).

Blue Max arrived today and what a revelation it is.

This is the best ever sounding version of the Blue Max ever released.

I had both the Sony and the Intrada versions, but the new La La Land release shoots them down in flames. Anyone who's a fan of this score should buy this release, it's tremendous.

Congratulations La La Land on one of the best remastered releases of the year.

I have two questions:

1. Will THE BLUE MAX cd set still be in stock for 10 more days so I can put it and the Blu-ray version on my next credit card billing period?

2. I'm thinking of ordering the Blu-ray THUNDERBOLT AND LIGHTFOOT in addition to THE BLU-MAX Blu-ray. Is it a good movie?.....(I saw part of it many years ago on tv and have forgotten most of what I saw).

Is disc 1, track 2 of Matrix Revolutions supposed to be "AK, Cold and Mauser" (as it says on the track list), or "AK, Colt and Mauser" (which would make more sense)?

Surely a typo made at some point along the way––maybe even as far back as the original cue sheets. As you say, "Colt" makes more sense and I can't think of anything from the film that would provide for a wordplay of "Cold" here. Unless they got their firearms from a freezer unit or something? I haven't seen the film since 2003.
