Yes the sound was amazing in Leeds Arena , it has actually been open a couple of months but was officially opened at an Elton John concert a few weeks ago. Richard Kraft and his son and PA were sat a few rows back from me , i would have said hello but he would have thought ... who this ?? lol Don't you mean... "What's this? What's this?..." ;-)

Thanks for sharing!! Funny... when you compare Elfman's concert to Horner's in Vienna. The Elfman audience seems much more raucous, with cheering and whistling; whereas the Horner audience seemed more 'polite'. Just an observation; no judgement implied.

Plus having originally planned the London concert for her I wanted to introduce my daughter to him, so I suppose it was quite fitting he then introduced his son. A family event indeed! She was a bit shy about it at first, but was walking on air back to the train home. Couldn't believe she'd been asked an opinion on how to improve the concert for future dates. Apart from anything else how do you improve on perfection? Not only did I enjoy the amazing performances of favourite film music and songs, but was introduced to one. Not seen Alice in Wonderland yet, and now I can't get that superb theme out of my head! Soundtrack promptly ordered of course.

Here's my concert report (in Norwegian...you'll need to Google Translate, sorry): http://montages.no/2013/10/danny-elfman-live-i-royal-albert-hall/ Nice review. You also answered the one question we never thought to ask, and which I was slightly kicking myself for not plucking up the cheek, on my way back to my coach that night. That is, after Richard asked us several times "any more questions?", I could have asked" how about a quick 'hello' with Danny, Tim and Helena"? Of course it would have been half jokingly asked, and possibly the fact they were around sixteen of us would have been a pretty tall order! Buy hey, if you don't ask....

The Get-Together was most probably enjoyable as I was not able to get together with all o' y'all. What I liked about the concert: Starting off with my recently-found favorite in Elfaman's canon, Pee-Wee. The theme is great on album and was great to heard through a live orchestra. I was probably a bit too focused on the playing of various bursts here and there, but overall it was a great way to begin the thing, and logical chronologically, too, yes? Getting to hear some of them Batman cues live, as they are some of my all-time favorites in my 3/4 of a lifetime of listening to film music. Appearance of Daniel (you know him as Danny) and his singings and physical performings was good. I don't have the currency or the time to see too many actual big-time composers performing live. I hardly ever go to concerts where the actual composer isn't in attendance. So this was right up the alley of myne. Also, I doubt Daniel will be performing live that many times in Europe anytime soon. What I didn't like about the concert: It was too loud. Perhaps I have damaged my ears over the years listening to film scores, but this was too loud for me. I didn't bring earplugs, because I didn't think I'd need them in an orchestral performance (I always wear them in concerts of bands). During intermission I put tissue paper in my ears. All that whooing and yelling and cheering ontop of music is very rude. Possibly there were too many Burton film aficionados and too little music listeners present. I think there should be applause signs in these things, so that these ignorant folks wouldn't ruin the experience for others, namely me. A couple of time I actually leaned forward and held my hand to my ear to express that I cannot hear the performance of the music. Crowd's reaction to Timothy (you know him as Tim) being present bothered me. Surely he is the director and his visual material is the basis for which Daniel wrote music. But I was there to hear The Music. It seemed to me, with all the whooing and yelling and cheering and foot stamping, that it was actually Timothy who deserved the audience's appreciation and not Daniel, as if we were there to see bits of footage from films and perhaps hear some incidental musical notes, too. I actually wanted to start shouting DANNY DANNY DANNY (with the possibility of getting others to join me) to represent what I actually came there for, the music. Altogether I am glad I was there to experience the live performance of the music and to see the actual composer. I am, however, a depressed, melancholic, alcoholic person and it might seem like I tend to focus on the negative. You can bomb me if you think this post is too negative. I merely expressed my sincere feelings of the concert. Perhaps I'm just a little too tightly wound and anal about what I like to experience musically (this I said so a certain positive person won't have to point it out to me).
