amen to that!!! and there is still THE GUNMAN coming next month too! But perhaps that one will be done by one of the EU labels since it's basically a French movie.
I'll repeat just once more again that in case there is no way to release THE DROP on its own, it could be combined with upcoming TRUE STORY - both distributed by Fox Searchlight and matching very well together - at least based on the few minutes I've heard. If there is one CD with like 30-40 minutes from each, it would be perfectly OK.
"The film has a few positive aspects, but they are far outweighed by the negative. It has an epic scale, and the visual effects and production design are top notch. The score by Marco Beltrami also adds an air of grandeur to the proceedings."
Saw the film (one for the guilty pleasure files) and loved the score. Very lush and exciting. I understand what the fuss was about and hope it gets released.
Those clips are interesting - The orchestrations especially. That brief, swirling motif heard occasionally, most notably over the prologue cue, sounds a lot like the darkly elegant/sumptuous theme heard in Silvestri's THE MUMMY RETURNS. And that ending cue has a fun, dark Elfman-esque quality to it, a la BATMAN.
Someone do tell though - Are there more melodic moments highlighted elsewhere not heard in those cues? More themes or noteworthy set pieces?
Sure thing... only about half of the cues I mentioned as highlights is included here... some of the most entertaining battle music is not included in these clips either. Since the score is 90+ minutes it has much more to offer. Including a brilliant scherzo used as the final part of the end credits... Listening to the clips again and again... it seems that one of the major themes is not included at all - that sneaky theme for the main villain.
