There are less than 600 remaining of the 3,000-qty. blue box first edition. There WILL be a second edition but we are waiting on a few answers from our manufacturer before a final decision about whether it will be the same format as the first. Also, the second edition may not be in stock for a couple of months so you may want to purchase now to avoid the dreaded "backorder" notice. http://www.screenarchives.com/title_detail.cfm?ID=8874

Hmm... I want one, but it's gonna be a race against time getting the stars and my finances aligned.

What will be the differences between the editions?

I would have thought that the intersection between film music and ween fans was pretty small. I thought I was the only one.

But dude, The Pod? Really? Give me White Pepper, The Mollusk or Quebec any day!

My guess with all the problems with the book (see Blue box book thread) this has to do with the replacement/elimination of the book?

There may well be a difference, but I doubt it will be related to the binding issues, since the difference in editions was hinted at even before the set was actually released.

Ah, but Lukas said early on

Obviously this was and is a matter of great concern to us.

We do have extra books vaulted away to replace any that might fall apart. So don't be afraid to read it!

It is larger than the Bernstein book and might seem looser for that reason.

We did have the front page replaced for a technical reason and that had to be glued in. The rest of the pages are stitched like a book.

Let's cross our fingers...

This suggests this front page replacement (which is where mine came apart) had something to do with the delays of the delivery of the box AND was a bit of a gamble on their part. So those hinted at revisions could have been anticipating the worse and involving the book.

Damn! I was hoping I would be able to wait until I was employed again before ordering but if a 3,000 unit release is already down to less than 600, I may have to put this on my credit card.

If I recall correctly, in the original press release Lukas stated that the follow-up set of box sets would not include the book...

I don't recall that. Hopefully what the differences will be - if any - will be revealed before the first edition sells out.

So they won't come with a blowup Lois Lane then? That's just not right.

Got my set today. Am listening to the first disc as I type this. I love what I hear. The blue of the box is darker than I was expecting-more Batman blue than Superman. Looking forward to reading the book.

If someone had told me that FSM's blue box set was going to be a complete Superman movie soundtrack set, I would've laughed in their face. Thanks, Lucas, for this gift.

Well, I ordered it. LQAs tend to do that for me these days.

You won't regret it. Superman IV is worth it alone.

No single score is worth $120.

Yeah, I know. I did tell people that. And they did laugh in my face.

Well if Intrada sold Alien for $120 I still would have bought it and it would have been worth it to me.

I wish I had your job!

I won't even pay $30 for Alien. The Eidelman re-recording is enough for me at the moment.
Though I'm sure I'll end up getting it someday.

I did finally pay $30 for Silverado, and it was indeed worth it.
