Golden Age fans : Now is the time where you have been asking for so often.
Back up James for this project and it strikes me that there is no commentary so far
from our devoted Golden Age friends PFK and Cody 1949 or am I misstaken ?
Pardon me for asking.

Good question! Where are all those classic film scores fans???
I am quiet sure that if the "King of Kings" project is successful, James will do some more projects as well.
So NOW is the time to invest in the future of good filmmusic!

I've been away from the computer a bit. I've had unexpected dental bills, auto repairs, property taxes due, auto insurance due, had to treat my house for termites which was very costly, etc. I'm retired and only on Social Security for income. Oh well ..... In any event I buy and support all of the Tadlow CDs and other classic film score CDs too.
I have to say I'm happy with all the KOK music I now have and there are many other classic film scores I would rather see. Still, James has my support and I too hope this works so we'll see more Tadlow CDs in the future. smile

I haven't contributed yet but I definitely will. I'd be even more excited for a "lost" Rozsa score to be done, but after listening to my copy of Ben-Hur I am totally behind this for the Rozsa epics to be completed in modern sound (it helps make me more interested in this that the original film recording was done a little "hot"; otherwise I'd probably be satisfied with it). I also wonder if, like Ben-Hur, King of Kings might have any music that Rozsa wrote but never recorded, which could be premiered here. Some of those cues included on the Tadlow Ben-Hur were just incredible -- particularly the strained and urgent version of the love theme in Silent Farewell! Such a shame that Rozsa never recorded that himself but I'm so grateful to James for rectifying the omission of that amazing albeit brief piece of music.

There were so many highlights on the BH. But hey, that goes for ALL the Tadlow Rozsa stuff. I adore them all.

Only disc I have a (relatively minor) issue with isn't even Tadlow, it's Prometheus. Folks here were right about Conan the Barbarian being so stuffed audio-wise, the distortion at times makes it a really exhausting and aggravating experience. The Destroyer is an entirely different story.

However, as mentioned, it seems everything James has had a real hand in has been great. Sodom and Gomorrah became one of my all time favorite soundtracks because of Tadlow.

I have to say that's a true highlight for me and makes me wish that scene had been filmed. I know the film is long (Gone with the Wind and Ten Commandments are longer), but would another minute or so have mattered? I can just picture it: Esther looking through a grill, bereft, as B-H and the others are lined up and chained. The great scene that never was.

Yes, if screen time was a factor, then I would have preferred it to the attempted-escape-in-the-dungeon scene which preceded it.

It must have been filmed; do you think Rozsa wasn't writing his score to picture? Of course that film was probably junked after it was cut from the movie.

The one project I bang on about is The Jungle Book. I rank it alongside TTOB. I know of the two pretty reasonable recordings available but a Tadlow project would be a fitting addition as a bookend to TTOB for me.

I would gladly cough up more money for that project should it ever happen smile

Well if we get enough for King of Kings ...who knows....if we do not then I save myself a lot of money !

I'm super grateful for this chance at a rerecording; to me (and apparently to one heck of a chunk of people on this forum), a new, complete King of Kings is a necessity. The prices for the old recording are beyond ridiculous; James and co. wouldn't charge anywhere near what those recordings are going for, even used on ebay and Amazon the prices are disgraceful and really frustrating for fans.

This is a chance to have something done really well by people who love the music and seem to be more than eager to get to work on it, all subservient to the composer's full and originally intended instructions.

In short, it's not only needed, but due to this love of one of Rozsa's outstanding Meisterwerks we're going to have something good enough to give as gifts both to ourselves and to others.

The favor that Tadlow is doing us just in terms of CD accessibility is a monumental reason enough to donate.

Tadlow really seems to care about this music, and it's hard to not be excited about the projected CD when keeping that in mind.

Plus the reconstruction of the music scores that have been lost over time...and can now be made available for concert use. This is all about preserving our film music heritage. Other might not give a dam...but I do and I want those who come after me to appreciate this music !

I don't mean to be a downer, but there's no way this reaches it's target by January 8. It's not even half way there and now Black Friday is approaching and the Christmas shopping season.

If you really didn't mean to be a downer then you would have kept that unhelpful opinion to yourself.

It's almost halfway after just a few days, with 42 days left to go. There are no low pledge levels ($39 USD is the lowest) so some people like me may just be saving up. I think it's got a good chance.

Please, feel free to put me on ignore so you don't have to read any more of my posts if you think they're "unhelpful".

A campaign like this should have ended before Black Friday, in other words -- started earlier. Indeed, even if it doesn't reach the full amount, James should try again two or three months into the new year (since reports show people are still paying off Christmas gift debt early on; some a year later, but we'll discount what's probably not a large number).

I know these things are never entirely accurate but....

However I doubt any kickstarter tracking model have ever come across film score fans and their idiosyncrasies.

When did I ever indicate that I found all of your posts unhelpful? I read many of your posts (especially regarding television scores like Gunsmoke) with great interest. I have no desire to ignore you and have never put anyone on ignore.

This *one* comment was needlessly unhelpful and negative, and presaging it with "I don't mean to be a downer, but" was especially odd considering. This is not the time to rain on the parade and make proclamations that there is no way this project gets funded. If we were nearer the end of the funding period that would be one thing (but still pretty uncool to post). But we are very early yet, and it's actually been going fairly steady the past few days after the initial burst on day one. There are many people who I'm sure haven't heard about this yet, and the word can still be spread further. Some people may be waiting until the last day to contribute, which does happen a lot of Kickstarter. Y'know, some people get MONEY for Christmas and could put it towards this since the campaign end in January.

Of course there's always the risk that a project fails. I don't believe that this has to do with Black Fridays or christmas or whatsoever. I think the main point is information! I think it is important to reach as many people as possible. I can imagine that not all of the true and willing fans have got internet.

On the other hand it's not the task of James Fitzpatrick alone to make this project known. Everyone can help and spread the word - and should! If we want KOK to be funded, then we have to try to do whatever we can to make this happen.

For example, I asked the webmaster of this cool site to publish my article about it - with success:
http://www.in70mm.com/news/2017/kings/index.htm

And I used another German based forum for film enthusiasts to spread the word:
https://www.filmvorfuehrer.de/topic/27027-neueinspielung-von-miklos-rozsas-k%C3%B6nig-der-k%C3%B6nige-kickstarter/

And I even contacted a German radio station www.klassikradio.de and they will report on the project tomorrow in their cinema show (which starts at 8pm).

So, think about what you can do for this project apart of donating! Together we will succeed!
