I am not going to get either one of these "Limited" releases, because I think this Zimmer stuff is going to make the movie terrible. But, you guys bought into this one by falling for their "Limited" 2049 1st Edition scheme. Now a 2nd Edition, with a 3rd edition right around the corner.

Drok it, think I prefer the 2nd edition artwork.

Still no tracklisting either, must be part of the anti-spoiler tactics, not bad move at all.

It's pretty clear that it's the same thing just with different art. Each version limited to 2,049 copies.

Now what really annoys me here is that if you opt to buy the second CD as well, you have to fork out for another glut of international postage.

And for those about to spring into action to buy the second edition how do we know there isn't going to be a third edition?

If this one sells through, you can sure bet there will be a 3rd edition. Glad I prefer the 1st edition artwork. Now to just sit back, wait for my download on Friday, and see what becomes of this in the long run...

I don't know if it's been resolved in everyone's minds but it's about to get really confusing:
There are now 2 Editions of the soundtrack. Both with the same content, but different covers. And the first one has the product code as Y4BR01COMBO and the second one is Y4BR02COMBO.

So they essentially upped the LE number to 4098.

LMAO!

I'm not sure how any of us who bought the first edition "fell" for any scheme. Bottom line myself, and I suspect many others want this score on cd. Those who bought it are getting it. That they are making a 2nd edition and possibly a 3rd edition is a great thing. IMHO it helps assure Warner Bros. that soundtrack score cds can still be a viable medium. I am not a speculator, I want the soundtrack cd so I jumped at the opportunity.

The idea of promoting and selling a limited edition set and then immediately issuing a second limited edition set of exactly the same thing (marginally different cover) is too funny. But I don't mind personally. Rather I'm happy this is out there and available for everyone who missed out and wants to own it. The first edition will still be what it is for any collectors out there—the first, very quickly sold out, edition. As for the covers, I don't think either one is worth writing home about so I'm fine with the first one. And yes, there will definitely be a third limited edition at some point, and probably with an equally unexciting cover.

Just hope this limited edition preorder for a cd edition doesn't become a trend.

Why not!? This is far superior to doing away with CDs entirely...

Cool. I ordered both versions. I'm a sucker for limited edition soundtracks.

The digital download version is available from all digital outlets this Thursday (coinciding with the films UK release).

Tracklist revealed by the composers on Facebook later today. Time to avoid spoilers!

Thanks to the OP for starting this thread. I ordered one, not because it is limited, but because I wanted a physical copy. I have frequented quite a bit of forums over the years and I must say that this one has more than it's fair share of rude posters. I don't know why it should bother anyone that I want to own a CD.

Hans dug out his old Yamaha CS80 synthesizer, which is the same instrument Vangelis used on the original film.

This bodes well.
