Only two days left and still nothing announced! This is Monkey King all over again!
And Red Eye, and Repo Men, and Killing Season. At least we have a reason for Spider-Man 3. Of the higher profile composers, Young and Beltrami seem to have this happen the most -- is it a matter of market fickleness, or is it a matter of them not pushing as hard as some composers to have every one of their scores released?
There is maybe 2 dozen completely unreleased Marco Beltrami's scores... some of those are of course TV projects such as Emmy nominated David and Lisa, Tuesdays with Morrie or the best of the batch - Walking across Egypt. There is a few more (smaller) movies such as Cursed, Repo Men, Red Eye, The Drop, xXx 2, The Invisible - which were either almost intentionally burried by their distributors or underperformed at the box office. Yet... none of those is on the level of Monkey King and Seventh Son.
Who knows WHY there is so little available from both Marco and Chris Young. Deputy recently mentioned that Marco doesn't want THE DROP released - it's weird as when I tried to get a few titles for one of the labels, he didn't say anything about not wanting The Drop released (although, I am only 90% sure The Drop was one of the titles we were after at that time). There is a big difference between not persuading labels to release his music and saying "no" if any of the labels actually enquires about any of these scores.
I doubt he would really object if anyone came with an idea to release some of his music. But perhaps MV or anyone can confirm if they had any experience like that with Marco that he would actually deny a score release - although I vaguely remember there might have been some attempts to release Red Eye at the time but no release happened.
Sure some of those don't need hour long or 80minute CDs like some other composers do almost every time... but pretty much all of them could be edited down to solid at least 35-45 minute CDs... or perhaps combined - especially THE DROP and TRUE STORY.

I didn't ever say that he didn't want The Drop released. I only said that (in the context of The Drop in whatever thread/post you're referencing, and in my post above) the composer is often one of the key reasons (whatever they might be) that I score may not be released. I never said outright that he didn't want to release it.
Since this film is quire surely going to bomb and be forgotten very quickly it is of no surprise there is no word on any release.
This (speculative) argument never makes any sense to me. Tons of films that failed miserably when they opened were preceded by score releases. It's not as simple as a prediction of a film's success or failure!
And JUPITER ASCENDING is gonna be rolling in AVATAR money, then?
It will most likely do better than this film. But seeing as you compared Jupiter. You have to remember the directors of that film have more control and also big score fans and no doubt had a hand in pushing for a sizable soundtrack release.
Hopefully it wont take another decade before someone finally decides to give this a listen and rescue this magnificent score from oblivion. Still a SHAME!

Exactly how i felt about Trevor Rabin's EXORCIST: THE BEGINNING...... Relatively High profile film, relatively well known composer....no release..even after becoming the score for technically TWO films! All this time and still nothing on this excellent work. I feel your pain!
