I did it on mobile. Shows two things shipping cd and digital. Up to that point of placing ordet made clear very clear 2 cd edition and digital. . Checkout had 1 cd impling 1 of 2 cd edition. Thete ate only two items. Two cd and digital.

Just clunky and rushed. Look at the email they sent. Beginning of the email it says you will click here and be able to get your digital download. Later in the email it says you need to get it from your account with them. You don't create an account if you got through PayPal. And later in email says you should be able to get it through the link in your email. Again it's just rushed and on the fly. There's only one option to buy.

Boy, I can't wait till all these release details are sorted out and we can start complaining about how bad Zimmer's score is!

SOLD OUT on official site

So I think there is only one version although no reply from the site.
It is difficult to think 2 versions are sold out at same time.

Ok guys. I just called and spoke with a very nice lady and here's the deal:

The other SKU with the word "combo" in it refers to the combination of MP3 download and the physical 2-disc set.
It breaks down the SKU after checkout to the other one that we interpreted as a 1-disc set - it is not. They were only selling the 2-disc version. So, anyone who ordered from the site will receive the 2-disc version. Nothing to fear!

Also, you will most likely get a second email this week with a link to your MP3 download.

I'm really glad I snagged one before it sold out. I have a feeling this will be one of my favorite recent Zimmer scores. Very stoked!

Thank you, The Mutant, I really appreciate your sharing that information with us. I feel so much better now.

No worries, dude.
I was starting to get a little panicked too, but all is well now it seems.

That is awesome news, Mutant. You just made my Monday. I'm looking forward to these two discs and all their Blade Runner goodness. I'm sure it will be a fantastic score.

I came here to read others' thoughts, and share my own, about the upcoming 2xCD release of this score, but nah. It's just embarrassing in here. How do you sleep when your diapers are all brimming? What a pack of ninnies.

I tried to order multiple times both on PayPal and using a credit card on Saturday. Just spoke to the rep at this location and said that the problem was on their end - not showing a sold out situation ! I am f"""g pissed off. This was worse then that "ORCA" problem some months back. Anyone else care to comment?

I saw the movie this morning. The score is...OK. And, fortunately, not wall to wall and "screechy," like Dunkirk's was (or seemed to be). It's mixed LOUD in spots, practically vibrating my shirt collar. Works in the film, works for the film (a solid entertainment, if not revelatory) but not something I'd listen to much on its own. Vangelis' "Tears in Rain," played at the very end, will be a balm for some.

Anyone know if the digital version will have the same contents? Can't believe I missed out on this with it being sold out already.

Not sure about that. We will know by Friday! I'm actually surprised it lasted as long as it did.

Not that I can't wait 3 whole days to see/hear this, but curiosity got me....where do you line up on the Zimmer scale? Love, hate, certain works or does some of his styles sit better with you than others? Have a fave & despised Zim to share with the class?
Not trying to get a dissertation out of you, just a clue for discussion!
Cheers,
Sean

You ask a good question, given how polarizing he can be. I'm in the "Up and Down with Zimmer" category. (Confusing the issue, perhaps, I have listened to Dunkirk a couple of times on its own; its use in the film bugged me.)

Favorite Zimmers:

Thelma and Louise
The Lion King
The Thin Red Line
Gladiator
Sherlock Holmes
"Select themes," as they say, from Inception and The Dark Knight

BR 2049 is definitely the harder-edged Zimmer. But it's not overused. He and Wallfisch had a tough act to follow, and they didn't bungle it; it's just that it didn't strike me as memorable on first experiencing. (As opposed to "listening," as there's much else to take in.) I've read that they were going with something more "Vangelis" than what Johannsson was up to, but they didn't quite make it to my ears, maybe because the original score is such a personal favorite.

Thanks very much rcashill, the civil discussion is much appreciated!
I'm in the "Zimmer has done great & not so great work, like most composers & the real problem is the overall influence on Hollywood as well as the march of the mini-Zimmers " school, myself.
I'm excited about the new BR, love Vangelis & the synth school & did not have the seemingly violent reaction some did about this project, hoping that Z would at least try to port over some of his own Vangelis fandom onto the project. Always have to at least give things a chance, people!

I'm not crazy about the limited 2049 2cd marketing ploy, glad I caught that thread and nabbed one....even some of this arts "no one has heard of" titles (used to) get more pressings at 3000 being the (old) norm! To be cute and just do 2049 'cause it's in the title, duh' is a bit unfair for a major film by the arguably most popular composer working.

Thanks again,
Sean

Well, this thread has been entertaining. There has been much wailing and gnashing of teeth. And some interesting discussion about Zimmer. As much as I've expressed my dislike for Zimmer (especially when comparing him to Vangelis) I'm actually somewhere in the middle of liking and disliking his work. I've calmed down a bit from when I initially heard of his involvement. Now I'm just hoping that all is wonderful with the film and score.

And the limited edition was a bit much, but I'm just glad I nabbed a copy. Sometimes you have to really stay on top of these posts as some of the releases are fleeting.

I don't know if it's been resolved in everyone's minds but it's about to get really confusing:

There are now 2 Editions of the soundtrack. Both with the same content, but different covers. And the first one has the product code as Y4BR01COMBO and the second one is Y4BR02COMBO.

So they essentially upped the LE number to 4098.

It's pretty clear that it's the same thing just with different art. Each version limited to 2,049 copies.
