Oh for the love of God, YA-AWN already!

Thor disapproves of expanded; nothing will ever change that. When he produces cds of scores he will set them as he sees fit, and all those who agree with him will praise them, and those who don't will curse them.

I prefer a complete score, and when I produce cds of scores I will do them as I see fit, and those who agree with me will praise them, and Thor et al will curse them.

That's the way it's always going to be, and no one is going to convince anyone to change his or her mind, so...

(and I can't believe I'm quoting Ford)

Next please!

Ummm...LOL...did you miss the fact that this thread is the ORIGINAL start to Thor's dislike for expanded scores?

It's from way-y-y-y-y back in the year 2000!

I hate expanded scores. big grin

I think the producers should just pick their favorite cue and only put that cue on the disc. big grin big grin

Perhaps they think only a part of that cue is the best, so maybe it should be edited, too, for the best parts. big grin big grin big grin

Or, better yet, if they aren't crazy about anything in the score, leave the disc blank and unfinalized, and we can re-use it for something else, or have some quiet time. big grin big grin big grin big grin

I wonder how Thor will deal with his later years if his body has an expanding middle.

Perhaps he'll find a nice lady who'll think it's suite! smile

When FSM runs out of ideas for composer collector cards, I think they ought to merchandise coasters of the insert cover art of all their releases.

Manderley: I think the producers should just pick their favorite cue and only put that cue on the disc.

I think every soundtrack should include only the composer's favorite note from the score, held for precisely 2-5 seconds at a constant volume. It would be okay if it fades out to the end.

Good idea!

.....and make the jewel cases a little bigger so they can be used for pins, paperclips, pocket change after we've thrown out the expanded cds inside!

The problem is, do we label this the "Main Title", "Entr'Acte" or "Exit Music"?

Easy problem to solve . . . we call it the name of the note.

But really, we must stop this. We are expanding an existing thread on expansion, and Thor won't like that.

While I agree that "expanded" or "complete" releases ruin a listening experience, you can always retrack the album to what the original was.

Also - this thread strikes me as egotistical and masturbative, as if you feel the need to validate yourself on a soap box speech. Give it up - different strokes for different folks and leave it at that. Not every opinion needs to be heard and not every arguement is intelligent.

But then, this is what you're good for and known for, Thor. Poking the wasp's nest for no reason other than to shove your opinion down people's throat like Montgomery Clift's teeth.

1- Are you calling Thor "a dog"? smile

2- Are you insinuating that he's sleeping all the time? smile

3- Is it possible that if this thread got out of hand it would be deleted, never to be brought back again? smile

big grin
