To tide myself over between the Spielberg "Lincoln" teaser trailer for the full-length trailer, and the full-length trailer itself (which is being revealed later this week), I watched "The Savage Curtain" yesterday. In my faulty memory I somehow mis-remembered that the "taped" music played upon Lincoln's arrival in the transporter room was the traditional "Hail to the Chief," but it wasn't! What was that music? Was it a library cue, or composed just for Star Trek? Is it in the box? I just looked over the end credits, and found the following: Theme music by Alexander Courage Additional music by Fred Steiner This strongly suggests that in this case, the episode was almost completely tracked with cues from other episodes, with minor additions of additional cues composed by Fred Steiner. I would assume that the "taped arrival music" for Lincoln was this "additional music", and will be on one of the bonus CD's.

or perhaps you're mixing it up with this one, or was this TREK music, too? Was it really the national anthem? If we had the cds, we could just play it to find out... Its a funny coincidence that you posted that photo. In anticipation of the box set, I've been reacquainting myself with the original series and its music via the new ME TV (My Entertainment Television) network recently. This episode depicted above just aired last weekend. I definitely recognized the re-use of the famous Kirk/Spock fight theme from "Amok Time" and also, as you noted, I heard the hints of the American national anthem during the scenes with the U.S. flag. Overall a great score. Anyway, sorry to go off-topic but I've been wondering if the episodes on the ME TV network are the original broadcast (untampered with) episodes? At the end they showed the full, unchopped credits (without all that overlying crap that destroys end credits these days), including a Desilu logo with music. My apologies for not being as knowledgeable as others regarding TOS - I don't own any DVDs or tapes, and I've only seen about half of the re-run episodes on TV during my lifetime. And this was the first one I'd seen on ME TV.

We have Lincoln's music--several versions in fact. And it's not composed by Fred Steiner. And the national anthem for Omega Glory?? AMERICAN IDEALS ARE UNIVERSAL! I believe Jeff Bond refers to this in his book's cue sheets as the "Flag Music," and if memory serves this was the only music composed for this episode; wasn't the rest of it tracked?
